Airport Extreme Base Station

I just got an Airport base station for christmas and I was running into a couple problems when I was setting it up.

When I go to the admin in the utilities and go to the configure and after I enter the password, I get this:

"The Airport Admin Utility was unable to read the configuration of the selected base station.

An error occured while reading the configuration."

I'm wondering what is wrong, before I go and reset the base station. Does anybody know what is going on? How do you fix this?
