Well I have a copy of 10.2 b11, but I've been holding back on installing it until I got a new drive. So today I went out a bought a 80 GB Seagate drive. I've split it into 3 partitions; one for X.2, one for backup, and one for random things I sometimes find myself wanting a spare partition for.

Well I'm backing up everything as I type this. Once that is done, I'm off to install X.2! Can't wait. I just wish I could get my hands on the WWDC build *cough* beej@futuremechanix.com *cough cough cough*

Anyway, just thought I'd share. :)

Hey, I just realised I now have 2 80 GB drives... that means I have 0.18 terabytes! w00t! :D

0.018 Petabytes
0.0018 Exabytes
0.00018 Zettabytes
0.000018 Yottabytes
(depending on what your definition of a x-byte is. HD manufacturers are weird like that...)

I have it but I tried it on my old imac and not my new one(you thing I'm dumb)

when you boot up after installation.....you will have a ugly looking QT4 icon in the dock.....but and update to QT5 or QT6 should change that

I have a friend who is getting me a copy of WWDC X.2 (he went there) but he is not coming in to the UK for about a month which means I am stuck with X.1 :(

Anyone no a HL server for X.2 WWDC??

WTF? I put the CD in the drive, but I can't see an installer. The "Welcome to Mac OS X" folder only contains an "Option Installs" folder...

Yep. I got it to work. I realised just after my WTF post what the deal was. I'm dumb, don't worry about me! :D

Well it's installed and running fine. The only change I've noticed so far is the 'Forward' button on the windows. As I'm sure you can tell, I've not done much yet!

Yottabytes is the largest I could find. 10x80th bytes. Way to big, we won't ever use this realistically any time soon. But, hey, imagine 20 years from now when your new mac comes with a 20 yotta drive.....preinstalled with the sum of all human knowledge!

I only have 100GB available to me at the moment....... of which 60Gb is used up..... I need more GB's....... :( :D :p

Count yourself lucky. I've got a 20GB HD (puny, i know), and i've got to edit 3 hours' worth of video from my fiancee's travels around the world! This will be fun... :(

Ouch, you need to get a good 100Gig Firewire drive, they're cheap, you know?

I'll be in heaven the day I can have 1 terrabyte on my machine. That would be more than enough for me. The only problem with that is backing up. There has to be a better way to cheaply back stuff up, even now its a pain and I have 60 Gigs on one machine and 120 on another.

What do you guys use?

I have a set of 15 rw cd's that i use to back up my entire hard drive (minus OS) once a month.

It's a bit of a pain to do though. 15 cd's on an 8x writer isn't quick.

I hope that comment on firewire HD's was tongue-in-cheek ;)

Not really, sorry. I remember buying a 4 gig external scsi drive for my first computer that cost almost 3 times the amount of a 100gig firewire does today. Its only going to get cheaper, so there's hope.
