The images look fake, but I would not be surprised if the new macbooks look very similar to the MBA and just between the MBP and MPA in size.

Now, if if you think about it, if the MB would look just like the MBA but a bit thicker with DVD drive (hopefully blueray) and with better specs, it might overshadow the MBA.

Looks fake to me, for reasons that people have already pointed out (font and capitalization).

The actual case I think the real one will look very similar, but not quite as Air-ish.

September 23 fits in with the 9 to 5 mac / Computerworld rumor (http://blogs.computerworld.com/rumor_macbook_updates_to_include_glass_trackpad_other_goodies) about a "last week(s) in September" release.

And… the MacBooks will never take over the MacBook Air until they are as thin and as light as the MacBook Air.

ya, but if you think about it, you'll probably only get $250 out of an 8gb touch, and there's the rumor of the next laptops being cheaper (mb for -$100), So you'll only really be spending $150 more for possibly a lot better computer.... but, its a gamble, these are indeed just rumors....

I will buy my MacBook with the Best Buy performance plan, that way if my MacBook gives me trouble in a few months, 3 repairs and they will replace it with a brand new one, which means by then they will be aluminum. :)

I agree with you that this mock-up is really ugly..

Even though the Montevina platform is smaller and may be able to produce thinner laptops, Apple would not go this thin. There would be no point in the Air and they would never eliminate one product line like that without redoing them all. The mock-up this person is providing looks more to me, if anything, it would be considered for the new MBA. Trying to pawn it off as a MB is just ridiculous. After the new MBs are released we will probably be seeing this as "the new MBA!"

More I look at the first picture, more I want to call ********. the "Macbook" is uncentered and the corner of the case are blurred a lot in comparaison of the rest of the picture. Because it's obviously fake.

First of all, the guy says his friend has a bad camera, only it's done in a "floaty" design like other Apple ads. If this guy really had a bad camera, then the picture wouldn't be done to look professional. It would actually be professional or sitting in a box like the last reliable MB leak that was posted on the main page.

Second of all, the new MB won't be this thin. Apple will not get rid of the air and a laptop this thin would run the Air into the ground. This would be more believable if it was an Air "leak."

Thirdly, "Thinner Than Ever Before" is bad grammar. As people have pointed out, Apple doesn't capitalize every letter in the ad, but the person who posted this thread does capitalize half or more of the letters in each of his/her sentences. Thus, its likely it was created and typed up by the same person.

The offset "Macbook" logo seems odd to me. If it were a photoshop job of a macbook air, then based on your diagram, it should be offset to your left, not to your right as the picture shows.

The thing that struck me was the relative length of the slot drive compared to the keyboard in the same picture. It seems disproportionate.

As to your thickness comparisons, those dimensions could be distorted with respect to shadows and angles. The width and depth dimensions could be the same as they may be using identical top cases for the macbook and macbook air. The screens will almost certainly be the same for both, I suspect.

I was lurking around this thread, but some of these posts are just so unbelievably stupid that I had to make an account just to comment on this.

These so called "leaked shots" are fake, fake, fake. You don't need any mathematical analysis crap to see that these pictures are more fake than Pamela Anderson's boobs. Some idiot took a bunch of press release photos from the apple website and distorted it a bit. OMG!!!!! MUST BE A NEW MACBOOK!!! THE HAVE GOT TO BE REAL! *ORGASM*.

These pictures are horribly photoshoped pictures of the Macbook Air that my 6 year old could do.

Here's a comparison of the "new Macbook" vs. the current Air. The "SOURCE" of these photos just took stock Macbook Air photos, and distorted them.
(And no, that's not a CD-Drive Sherlock, that's the bloody collapsible port on the side of the Air.)

As some of the cleverer posters on this thread have also already noted, the copy is also all wrong and capitalized. And half the time this macbook is floating on thin air behind a black background, among the other five hundred different things that obviously show this "leak" is a fake.

Although I like to engage in civil dialogue, it is especially hard when half the people here are being ignorant to the facts around them. If this guy really had a bad camera, then the picture wouldn't be done to look professional. Second of all, the new MB won't be this thin. Apple will not get rid of the air and a laptop this thin would run the Air into the ground. This would be more believable if it was an Air "leak."

Thirdly, "Thinner Than Ever Before" is bad grammar. As people have pointed out, Apple doesn't capitalize every letter in the ad, but the person who posted this thread does capitalize half or more of the letters in each of his/her sentences. Thus, its likely it was created and typed up by the same person.

Age has very little to do with maturity. Humor and satire are nice, but unsolicited attacks against people you don't know is rude.

and it's good that you pointed out what they may have been missing, but let's be civil about it. I've found that Macrumors isn't like other forum sites, for the most part the members are more mature, have reasonable grammar, and don't abuse font colors or sizes.
