Alright guys, this is really bizarre.
Last night I was using my 3G iPhone (The 16 gig model). I was running AIM, Palringo, Facebook and Myspace applications, and making a few calls and texts. Everything was working fine, with no problems whatsoever. The only thing that I noticed was that the back part of the phone felt a little warmer than usual.
I put the phone on charge on my office desk before I went to sleep, and I had only left the AIM application running. When I woke up the next morning, I saw something terrible. My phone was in multiple, half-melted pieces, and scattered around on my desk!!
It had obviously been busted up for a while, because the pieces were cooled off and I was able to touch them. What on Earth would have caused this to happen?? How could a phone just blow up like this?? What the hell??
I live alone, so no one could have broken my phone, and the charger was just plugged into a regular wall outlet.
I called Apple customer support this afternoon, and they told me that there was nothing that they could do for me over the phone, and that I had to make an appointment in my local Apple Store. I'll be going to see someone tomorrow...hopefully they'll be able to tell me what the hell happened.
