looking to sell 15" PB G4 ti 800mhz. how much?

Hi Guys,

I'm thinking about selling my 15" G4 PB ti 800mhz, 1 gig ram, 60 gig drive, Airport card, 1 1/2 years left on Apple Care.

It's in pretty good condition. a few minor nicks and scraps, but none of the paint problems of earlier models. great screen, no dead pixels.

what would a fair price be. just wondering.

well the new ones sell for 2000, so probably, 1400-1500.

Macofalltrades.com is offering $825 as a base price for 800mhz PowerBooks. They might offer more based on what peripherals you have. But they're trying to make money off of yours by reselling it.

In completed auctions on ebay, your model is selling for a spread from 1000-1700, depending on the phase of the moon and what goodies they came with.

You might need to do a bundle to make yours move for a higher price, but 1400 seems realistically optimistic. ;)

iBook 800 doesn't have the ability to go to 1Gig RAM (cheaply that is), nor does it have the applecare he's got. Not to mention the DVI-out, PCMCIA cardslot, sexy thin profile, S-video out, gigabit ethernet, or ability to drive large hi-res monitors. Of course you'd get BT and AE with the iBook, so it's all about what you need. If you need a PCMCIA slot for example, you'll need a powerbook that measures at least 15".

I saw a 500Mhz TiBook the other day at an Apple reseller. They were asking $1200 for it.:rolleyes:

thanks guys, that's about what i thought. actually i had pegged it at $1,300. so i think that's about right.

one last question:

i'm thinking about doing a trade with a friend. I really wanna sell the 15" and get a 12". he has a 12" 867mhz, 40 gig drive, 256 ram, no apple care and no airport card. no dead pixels. great condition.

Do you think it would be a good swap, if we traded and he gave me an extra $200? (meaning my system is pegged a $1,300 and his is pegged at $1,100).

I don't have a comment on the trade value, but I caution you about doing business with a friend. Money [transactions] and friends don't mix well. What if one of the laptops breaks or develops a problem shortly after the trade? Just speaking from experience, do whatever you want, just my 2¢.
