Whenever I press the battery release button at the top (same side as the camera) the battery compartment doesn't pop off but my I-PHONE's screen turns black. I think im going to go to Rite-Aid and have them look at it. im so mad at Microsoft for making a budget phone that is broke!

I know how you feel, when I press the home button I never end up at home.

Maybe?!

When I worked there, it wasn't uncommon at all to have customers walk up to the Genius Bar with knock-off iPods that the customers thought were the real things. Sometimes they looked very much like the real thing, except they had a mini-USB connector instead of the 30-pin Apple thingy.

I could see someone falling for a fake iPhone on eBay/CL, where the battery was removable...

Wow, I'm just flabbergasted. That was the most hilarious thing I have ever heard. I mean, you must have spent hours thinking of this ridiculously creative and enlightening joke topic, right?

Yeah, your thread sucks.

Really, mine comes right off. Take it back, you obviously have a defective one.:p

OK, well, there are a few things wrong with your post:

1. The button on the top isn't a battery release button, that's the lock/unlock button and it's working fine. To release the battery you need to hold down the Home button at the bottom to unlatch the lower part of the case and then hold down the lock/unlock button. The back should just pop right off then and you can load in a new battery (the iPhone 3G uses AAA, the 2G uses a strange B size battery - this was a great new feature of the iPhone 3G as I can get a pack of four batteries down at the supermarket rather than going to the electronics shop) and away you go.

2. Microsoft don't make the iPhone, the iPhone is made by HTC. Microsoft only make the software.

I once tried to rip off the back cover with a spork, but it wouldn't come off.

I sent it into apple, but I have yet to hear anything back

The funny thing about this whole thing is, i looked at the OP's previous threads, and for the most part, many of them are legit and/or make sense (there are a couple recent threads much like this one though either intended to annoy or are cries for help/attention). Why the OP would continue to make threads like this that are blatantly devoid of any sense or intelligence is beyond me

Schizophrenic much?

Complete and utter failure here. You struck out big on this one.

They kept his spork? Now that's just uncalled for! I'm glad the OP can at least get a replacement at the nearest KFC.

(some) people should lighten up, if silly threads annoy so much, then don't give them the oxygen of your replies.

Can you replace the three AAA batteries with the rechargeable Ni-MH long lasting ones? and will it give me longer talk time?

I am still having problems getting the back cover off. I have been holding down the buttons for a while now and the cover is still not popping off. What am i doing wrong?

It might have been funny in like July of 2007.
