View Full Version : Taking a MacBook Air to Disneyland.

I'm completely seriously about this, Since the iPhone doesn't have video capabilities, and the MacBook's do, (iMovie)
I would like to record Disneyland Dark Attractions with it,
And Splash Mountain!
But you think, (Water, Look weird carrying a sexy computer at Disneyland)
Right?
Well I have a BackPack for it, and I will tuck it in, and I will probably get the invisible shield for it, (If there's one)
Since the iSight and Mic are in the front, it's perfect!
The camera is amazing.
Thanks.:o

How about you just buy a flip camera (http://www.theflip.com/)
and call it a day.

haha My friend has it, I don't like it.
Thanks though

Flip is cool, but pretty lo rez and doesn't really do stills...
but you gotta be nuts to take a MBA into the park. Get a Flip or some other video/still camera for a couple hundred bucks (call it Air Insurance) and keep the notebook in the hotel room (or at home) and use iMovie when you get back there!
sheesh! nuts I tell ya!

HAHAHAHA
The camera is soooo high res on the MBA!

Pretty much any Digital Camera will take better movies than the MBA. Small as it is, the MBA is still to big to use easily for filming things - especially, since you can't easily see what it is recording, unless you are in front of it...

sounds like a good way to get a broken or stolen MBA. go for it!
no, seriously, this is bad idea. i don't even know if park rules allow laptops inside.

Sep 3, 2008, 07:42 PM
Awww Oh well,
MAYBE since the air is so thin I can put in in my shirt and they wont notice!
No just kidding.

Ok man hate to say it but that is definitely a bad idea

splah mountain:D:D:D HAHAHA you're gonna break you're mba in it
damn thats a bad idea don't do it just buy a camcorder it will last you for a couple years if you wanna do other stuff
cheers,

If you take your Air on Splash Mountain, please scan and upload the picture the ride takes of you - I want to see you screaming with your MacBook :D!

IM SO GONNA DO IT!!!
And since you said Ill really do it!
That will cool down the MBA's heat problem!
:D
When I visit Disneyland IM DOING IT!
Poor MacBook Air :(

If you're taking that on Space Mountain, you better have a pretty good grip.
The aerodynamics of a light, opened MBA at 35+ MPH does not bode well for you.

Wirelessly posted (iPhone: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_0_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5C1 Safari/525.20)
Well if you ruin your MBA (I really hope you don't!) ... then you can get a 2nd gen. MBA! (that is if one comes out soon.. lol. :D

I AM CERTAINLY not taking my pro.
NO SIR. And the reason for that being is because it's bigger and and heavier.
I love the air and pro heart and soul.:D

Note to self: The MBA is not waterproof...:D

Your all too funny!
This will also be a durability test too!
"Can the air survive the BIG mountain?"
Besides, the MacBook's (all) have FANTASTIC microphones! FANTASTIC! The iSight is amazing and smooth.
Take a photo of yourself playing chess with it on the roller coaster :D
Since the MBA's screen is glass, won't the flash of the camera (when Splash Mountain takes a picture of you) reflect off the screen?
The screen will look white?

You must be joking! I have a better idea. Leave the computer at home and record the experience with your eyes, then store the images in your brain. What a waste of experience dealing with electronics when you're supposed to be having fun.
Also, I highly doubt they will let you bring the laptop into the park, let alone take it on the rides. You better call ahead or your MBA is going to be sitting in your car all day.
If you must have a video of your experience, just buy a nice HD camcorder/video camera. They make them pocket size and they are good enough for your purposes.

are you 5 years old or something?
Do you need to take your toys everywhere, seriously leave the computer at home and have a good time.

Don't forget to post vid's if you do it. I think it insane personally. Any new camera phone has better resolution than the Air and forget it in low light. Splash Mountain? - this would be interesting. I triple dog dare you!!:p

Do you really think that a MBA will survive on Splash Mountain? I can't wait to see the video...
"Woooo! Yeah!
"We're going up."
*screaming girls
Water splashes on the MBA and the video starts to look funny.
We see the MBA fall off the ride to its' death.
That would be an awesome video ! I'm not kidding either. It's your money and your MBA, we won't tell you what to do with it, but I'm sure that the video will be awesome if you do it :p.

Okay, so you ride Splash Mountain time one with camera on you & time two with it turned around to see ride action. You really need to sit in front seat for second run to be super awesome!:D

This guy just sounds like an idiot, if you are being serious and honestly want to take your MBA on a water ride just to take video that a cheap modern digital camera could do 10 times better (There's also waterproof cameras on the market). Then honestly go for it :) Next time you want to destroy $1,799.00 worth of MBA then please do call me first.

Well, make sure you give the wifey or kids a camera...
because....
PICS OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN.
Why don't you just get a camera for the trip... is it really worth risking your laptop?

I'm sorry, but this is the silliest thread I've seen on the internets in a while. Sounds like you just want to show off your MBA. I can't really see it going well. When I go to a place like Disneyland, I try to take as little as possible.

Sep 6, 2008, 09:54 PM
wow this is a stupid idea imo. why not just bring a digital camera. why do you feel the need to show off your laptop?
haha and whats with you and disneyland? just wondering as you have quite a bit of threads about it

I think it's a pretty stupid idea, but out of cruel, morbid curiosity, I say go for it.

Sep 7, 2008, 01:19 AM
This is just... crazy. Go for it by all means, although if the laptop slips out of your hands, .... Apple will just show you the door when you go to them with a wreck of a laptop. Otherwise, have fun at Disneyland!

Sep 7, 2008, 01:39 AM
What an incredible chance to make a costly trip even more costly! Be sure and add about $1000 for repairs to the total cost of your trip.
Or...you could be like a normal tourist and use a VIDEO camera for filming videos. And you may find it's better quality. *gasp*

Just buy a video camera!
But if you take your MBA be sure to take some photos of you using it on a roller coaster!

Kids these days....
I get the feeling the OP is blagging. Notice how they keep saying 'I'm really gonna do it!!' . Sure you are.
You're going to take a laptop that costs £1k+ and intentionally wreck it.
Remember that if the laptop does get wrecked, what are the chances of you getting the video footage off it?

I think it's safe to say that he's a spoilt brat who has no idea what the value of money is. I mean, seriously, anyone who has worked to save up the money to buy a computer would never dream of taking it on a ride in an amusement park.
Oh, and I hate to spoil your fun, but there's not a chance in hell that you will be allowed to take it on a ride, and if you manage to do so and get seen with it, you will be ejected from the theme park. The potential lawsuit against the theme park for a laptop being thrown from the top of a ride and hitting someone on the ground is not worth the park letting you have your little "fun."

No offense, but this is possibly the worst idea I've heard today.

Sep 7, 2008, 06:19 PM
worst idea ever.
seriously. terrible.
why dont you just say what you mean....
"I want to show as many people as possible that I have a MBA. This seems like the best way to get people to ask me about it, tell me how they wish they had one...."
I hope you do try it though. It may do you some good to get your computer stolen, broken etc... and maybe teach you to not be such a moron.
and i think its pretty funny that you "supposedly" have a MBA (one of the most expensive [and useless] laptops made, yet dont have a point and shoot camera that does video, or a video camera...).
