A Most Grievious Offense: "COUNTRY FIRST" At The RNC

McCain more of the same?
Suggestions for Friday:
Palin is female satan hiding behind glasses
Do you think McCain will eat children if elected?

Cheap Shots, Distortions and Outright Lies: An Examination of McCain's Acceptance Speech
Following his vice-presidential candidate's example, John McCain mocked his opponent's community service, distorted his fiscal and economic plan, and outright lied about Obama's plans for acheiving energy independence. The Republicans ate it up, of course, cheering loudly at each applause line - which included such things as, "I was a POW, therefore I understand why we should continue to torture prisoners in our possesion", "only the wealthy need tax cuts, so that they can spread more of their munificence among the masses", and "oil drilling is doing something, doing anything else is doing nothing".
While I was able to force myself to watch the entire speech, I was also yelling at the tv and threatening to throw things. Anyone else have any other takes?
There, first thread title and post, whaddya think?

Sounds pretty accurate, though you left out a couple of failed attempts at humor that were sabotaged by McCain's lack of comic timing and that creepy smile/chuckle thing he does.

For the record, I didn't start this as a stand-alone thread. I assume one of the higher-ups bumped it into it's own thread. Fine with me. Hope everyone enjoys a little low brow humore here and there.

Excellent. It had cadence, the requisite amount of hyberbole and the emotional overlay was not excessive. You get extra points for mentioning torture and tax cuts in the same sentence. The only area for improvement is the failure to equate McCain with Bush - a principal ingredient to any strong thread.
Nonetheless, an excellent, excellent proposal for tomorrow's thread title. I give it 8.5 stars.

FAIL! That's tonight's new PRSI thread title. This thread is explicitly calling for tomorrow's PRSI thread.
My bet is on:
"Are all the GOP elite liars? or just the ones who spoke at the RNC?"

Thursday:
McCain more of the same?
I authored that thread as a means for republicans to set the record straight in a rational and objective manner on ways that McCain is different from Bush's policies. I've tried to be as generous and fair to Republicans as possible. If you think McCain is so different in his policies why don't you make your case in that thread. I'm not sure how I could have made things more objective to be honest.

Your efforts to remain objective in that thread were perfectly clear. Everyone, I think, appreciates that. If I'm not mistaken, kavika411, was making a thread in jest referring to the flavor-of-the-day republican attack thread marathon this forum was having. Surely you could appreciate a moment of levity in this mud-fest.

maybe we should ask Bobber205 as he's the one who starts the anti-republican threads lol

Indeed you did. My apologies if I came across as attacking your thread. I was, as obeygiant says, just having fun with the thread titles of late. As far as answering your inquiry, I frankly don't have the energy at the moment. You raise good points.
On to much more important issues, you need to throw your name in the hat regarding what tomorrow's thread title will be. Cleverboy, Macnut, Atszyman and Thanotoast have entered some strong horses. I'm currently leaning towards Cleverboy's "GOP - Sex, Lies, and YouTube." It has a good beat, and you can dance to it.
Good luck.

Do I need to define "para ad hominem attack?" Fun's over. ;)
