Firewire lose every other day

I've been losing firewire capability for all my devices often. When I turn off my 933 G4 and unplug the firewire cords and then turn on the computer with the firewire cords in, the computer then recognizes my devices. I been having to do this almost every other day now. Any help?

do you have a tower of Hard Disks / Other drives? i had a similar problem at work, we had 2 zip drives on to of a Hard Disk and they worked fine for the first 15 minutes of the day but then they would die, it turned out to be the heat from the hard disk.

i have one usb cd burner that i put on top of my G4. ill move it and see what happens. thanks
