It's Friday!
This thread's for spamming with aimless chatting with others if you're getting in the weekend mood.
Like last week's thread (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=600215), this thread is going to be wastelanded at the end of the day. Once it's sent to the wasteland, any posts within will not count towards personal post totals.
Fascinating Friday Facts
• Every human spent about half an hour as a single cell.
• The microwave was invented after a researcher walked by a radar tube and a chocolate bar melted in his pocket.
• The most money ever paid for a cow in an auction was $1.3 million.
• Peanuts are one of the ingredients of dynamite.
• Butterflies taste with their feet.
• The first Harley Davidson motorcycle was built in 1903, and used a tomato can for a carburetor. Brrrm!

More Beer Facts
About 4000 years ago, it was the accepted practice in Babylonia that for a month after the wedding, the bride's father would supply his son-in-law with all the mead he could drink. Mead is a honey beer, and because their calender was lunar based, this period was called the "honey month" or what we know today as the "Honey moon".
Before the invention of the thermometer, brewers used to check the temperature by dipping their thumb to find whether it was appropriate for adding yeast. Too hot, the yeast would die. This is where we get the phrase "The Rule of Thumb".
In English pubs, ale is ordered by pints and quarts. So in old England, when customers got unruly, the bartender used to yell at them to mind their own pints and quarts and to settle down. This is where we get "mind your own P's and Q's".
After consuming a vibrant brew called Aul or Ale, the Vikings would go fearlessly into the battlefield, without their armour, or even their shirts. The "Berserk" means "bear shirt" in norse, and eventually to the meaning of wild battles.
Way down in 1740, the Admiral Veron of the British fleet decided to water down the navy's rum, which naturally, the sailors weren't pleased with. They nicknamed the Admiral Old Grog, after the still stiff grogram coats he used to wear. The term grog soon began to mean the watered down drink itself. When you are drunk on this grog, you are "groggy", a word still in use today.
Long ago in England, pub frequenters had a whistle baked into the rim of their beer mugs or ceremic/glass cups. The whistle was used to order services. Thus we get the phrase, "wet your whistle".

Instead, he proposes that our ancestors discovered alcoholic fermentation and began to grow crop to still their thirst. Here is an interview in German. Teabags can be used to reduce the swelling of puffy eyes. Lie on your back and place a moist teabag over both eyes and leave on for around 20 minutes, this leaves your eyes feeling fresher, brighter, and looking revitalised. Also, a wet teabag can be used to soothe burns and sunburn. By either placing the teabag straight onto the burn or pouring tea into cool bathwater, it has been known to take away the burn's sting and help the skin heal faster.

I would prefer to remove letter K since C can make that sound and replace soft c's with s's. It would also probably save space on keyboard, by one letter. ;) :D

To get rid of the foam at the top of beer (the head), stick your fingers in it.
The powers that be at Guinness say that a pint of beer is lifted about ten times, and each time about 0.56 ml is lost in a beer drinker’s facial hair. That’s a lot of wasted beer!
It sometimes helps to run your finger across your forehead first since the oils will help lessen the head faster. Of course if you know what you're doing you shouldn't have that much head to begin with.
And speaking as someone with some meager facial hair, it's not wasted... we're just saving a small taste for later.
Why do you Americans like coffee so much? Do you even sleep at night from drinking a lot of caffeine?
A 4 year old, an 18 month old and one on the way. The only time my wife and I get to do adult things, like catch up on TV we don't want the girls watching is after they're asleep. She doesn't stay up as late as I do, but she's pregnant, and doesn't play the Wii either.
What point is a liquid without stimulant in it?
Hydration so you can consume mass quantities of beverages with depressants?
Let's move to another topic:

I would prefer to remove letter K since C can make that sound and replace soft c's with s's. It would also probably save space on keyboard, by one letter. ;) :D
What do you think?
Remove the C, the S can replace soft C and K can replace hard Cs, while we're at it get rid of X and replace it with 'ks' except for the times it's used for a 'z' sound in which case replace it with a 'z', use the now eliminated x to make the 'ch' sound and now we've streamlined the whole system. Next up replace all soft 'g' instances with 'j' and eliminate the idea of the soft 'g'.
This sucks, have to travel next week, which is good, but I had to come back in to work tonight to finish up some last bits. Got hit by a missing not in my code now waiting on the compile to test and release, retest. Luckily there were 2 beers in the work fridge, have one while I'm here and take the second home, no one else seems like they want em here....
Oh well once I get past the flight and 3 hour drive on Monday I have a week back in central WI to relax...
Of course we have a weekend of cleaning and packing ahead of us but it's nice that we have the weekend instead of flying out tomorrow.
