15GB iPod and Battery Life

I am looking into buying a 15GB iPod but have a few questions. First, are there any issues with the current model except the battery? I haven't heard of any, but the problems with the battery was almost enough to turn me away. Does the battery really deteriorate that quickly for everyone or is it just a few people complaining loudly?

Also, as a middle school student, can I get an educational discount on the iPod? The online Apple Store doesn't show any refurbished models. Is it because they just happened to not have any, or do they not have refurbished iPods at all?

It would be greatly appreciated if anyone who has a 3G iPod can share their experiences, especially with battery life.

i dont know about the 15 model in particular

but i have the 30 and i get a good 8 -10 hours

i dont think middle school students can get a discount tho

I think the original poster was referring to the 18 month battery life before it needs replacement.

This is a concern for me also and a reason I don't have an iPod.
