It's Friday!
This thread's for spamming with aimless chatting with others if you're getting in the weekend mood.
Like the last thread (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=604044), this thread is going to be wastelanded at the end of the day. Once it's sent to the wasteland, any posts within will not count towards personal post totals.
It's the 5th of December. On this day in history:
• Mozart died in Vienna at the age of 35.
• The Mary Celeste was found drifting off the coast of Portugal with the entire crew missing.
• National Prohibition in the US came to an end... so cheers. :)

Whiskey works better for keeping you feeling warm, and eventually you won't care about the cold.
Lovely Friday, due to travel from last weeks vacation, I started work on Wednesday and have already finished my 2 biggest tasks for the week.
Xmas party for the kids tonight, Christmas tree hunting tomorrow, decorating the house sometime this weekend...

Nope. The guy came and found out there is a bad circuit board on our heating unit. He's going to pick up the part and will be back to fix the unit sometime after lunch. I'm not really sure when he takes lunch, but for me it's at 1, so it could still be another couple of hours!

My best ideas have been lost on cocktail napkins scattered across bars all over the U.S.
Unfortunately I can only remember that they were completely and utterly brilliant, people got smarter just by being in close proximity to the napkins, people were more attractive in the vicinity of them.
It's a shame such genius has been lost... until my next bender...:D

My boss bought (well, we bought one for him) a MacBook Air.
We got him a MacBook Pro 3 years ago, but he didn't like it; it's too heavy, apps disappear from his dock and he never remembers how to get it back. Then we got him a Lenovo, 3 actually since he said it's always slow; he would just leave a sticky note on the computer and put it on the IT guy's desk saying: "It's slow, make it go faster." :D
Now we got him a MBA, lets see how long this one will last. :D

The best part about my job is that we're a small company (only 16 employees) and we've been seeing a huge growth every year... at least double or triple. I also love it because there is only one other programmer besides me and he's the one who created the software.
I'm not always working on the same thing everyday like some other huge companies. What I do changes monthly or weekly... so that's awesome too.

I have had very similar experiences. It's a shame that we can't accumulate and compile it all. The problem is, if we had the information, we would have to drink to be able to understand it again.:p

I used to work for Clayton County, mainly for Criminal Justice. I designed and coded case management systems, jury systems, inmate management systems. It was great working with CJ, except for the judges. The last few years I was there, I was in management, which wasn't nearly as fun as the programming, but paid much better.

In a new study (http://www.higheredcenter.org/research/groupdrink-effects-alcohol-and-group-process-vigilance-errors), scientists found that cognitive impairment that comes from consuming alcohol, aka drunkassedness, is lessened or even eliminated when placing drunkasses into groups.
Researchers gathered a bunch of college students, half got real beer while the other half got a placebo, then researchers had them complete various tasks alone and/or in groups. "Alcohol significantly impaired the performance of individuals but not groups."

Does that mean that getting drunks together makes them smarter? or does it mean that large groups of people are uniformly stupid regardless of the amount of alcohol consumed?
Or is it purely a testament to the intelligence increasing aspect of the national trivia network availability in local drinking establishments?

My b-days is very near - and a little of the past first.... I have some friends that are the get-into-a-lot-of-trouble type, which I'm not really myself. Even so, I hang out with them from time to time, and we have fun, in spite of the fact it may not be 100% legal all the time. So I've had a couple of these friends over my life - all of them never knowing eachother, and never hanging out with more than 2 at once.
So they finally find each other by happenstance, and hit it off (crap). Now they're all taking me out to a "movie" toinght.

Definitely going out to dinner tonight and tomorrow- one night will be this great Chinese place I found. Not sure about the other night. Italian? Sushi?
