I need to find out what percentage of schools in the uk use macs. Does anyone have any idea where I can find out that kind of information?

A quick search turned up this (http://www.scotland.gov.uk/library2/doc15/ssit-01.asp) for scotland. If you scroll down about half-way, you get a break-down of all types of computer being used.
For england (and the UK in general) i wasn't able to find a break-down by OS type, but there was a survey of computer usage. Perhaps you could contact the authors of that publication? The contact email address is: jennifer.beaumont@dfes.gsi.gov.uk

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that the whole of the Isle of Man is based on MacOS. The main software used for educational Mac networks is Macadministrator, but it's OS 9 only. If you want to get some idea of the numbers of UK edu Mac users, it might be worth emailing Hi-resolution who make Macadministrator.
I have to say, it's not too much fun setting it up though. Very un-mac-like.
