I was watching some of the Macworld keynotes and Steve jobs is a great salesman, but he also likes to BS a lot (just like any salesman). However, it's kind of weird when he contradicts himself.

Take for instance his keynotes from Macworld 2006 and then in 2007. In 2006, he introduced the new 3rd generation iPod Nano (the short, squat one), touting it has having "the highest resolution screen we've ever shipped" (204 ppi) and as having Cover Flow "for the first time on an iPod."

Then, in 2007 when he introduced the iPhone, he again says it has "the highest resolution screen we've ever shipped" (160 ppi) and Cover Flow "for the first time on an iPod."

Now, I'm not really complaining -- I love my iPhone and think it's an incredible device -- but I do hate it when Steve BS's to the point of absurdity.

resolution could mean ppi or actual screen size or any other definition

its just different definitions being applied to suit there purpose

Or different definitions being made without proper clarification :)

Steve is the man, he's a good salesman as you say, I wonder if he writes his own speeches or if someone does it for him :apple:http://seoagora.com/img/589/d08l1104oulu/smiley2.gifhttp://seoagora.com/img/1339/f08f1204jcgz/nodding.gif

The 3rd gen Nano's screen is 320x240 and 204 ppi, and the iPhone's screen is 320x480 at 160 ppi. So apparently he was right both times, the Nano for highest ppi, then the iPhone for highest number of pixels.

The fat nano didn't come out until fall of 2007. During that event apple released the fat nano and the iPod touch. When the iPhone was announced it had the highest ppi screen, then the nano surpassed that in september, after the iPhone launched in july.

That might explain the resolution part of the quotes, but not the Coverflow stuff (not that I actually care).

Well most of the thread is wrong... The first iPhone came before the 3rd iPod nano (the short one).

Hmmm -- well there's egg on my face I guess. The site that I originally saw the video at (which, wouldn't you know, I can't find now) labeled the iPod Nano video as the Macworld 2006 keynote, but now I see that it was actually sometime in mid-2007, after the iPhone keynote. And since Cover Flow was first on the iPhone and not the iPod, I guess that remark is basically OK.

But Steve does BS a lot ;). And now I want my iPhone to be 204 ppi.
