My husband has the mac g4. He is looking to upgrade to the g5. I would like to know how he can go about getting the programs onto the g5 without having to re-register and so forth the programs. We dont have most of the passwords and information to install them onto a new comp. I know when I took my old drive out of my old pc and put it into the new one, I had to reinstall and reregister all of my programs. Is it the same way with the macs? And if so how can I get around this?
Thanks for the help. Tara

well first off it will be impossible to take you G4's hard drive out and put it into the G5 because they use different connection technologies
however you could connect the two macs by ethernet and transfer all the files for the programs that you want to have......

True, however you coulld always buy an "ATA" PCI card and connect the HDD that way.
