Hi all

Well it's nearly christmas and i need some advise. I ordered a mac pro on the 10th of this month. Now it is still sitting on pending for shipping. So i don't expect this to get here by tuesday as i wanted this to chuck under the tree and open it up on christmas day. So thats gone down the toilet

Now my parents are winging about what to get me and so far they have only gotten me 2 dvds.

Now what i would like is ( but can't decide)

Xbox 360
Farcry 2
Surround sound setup for my tv. But here is my dilemma

Xbox, i will probably play this for 5 minutes and get board with it and then it will sit there and not get used, Farcry2 this will get finished in 2 days then it won't get played again OR i get a decent system for my tv which will get used because of my apple tv.

So if you were me what would you do?

Read your last paragraph, and I believe you answered your own question.

The thrill of ripping open a Mac Pro on xmas morning is pretty much the only reason to get one.

He's right. You don't need the Mac Pro anymore. There's no point in owning it if you can't unwrap it. Unwrapping a Mac Pro is the most important reason for buying one.

It's better if you just go to your room and whine about your DVDs. I can't believe that's all you get.......a Mac Pro, stereo system, and those DVDs.

You're so 3rd World that I'm actually disgusted at myself for posting with you.

He never said his parents bought him the Mac Pro. He said "I ordered."

Christmas always brings out the brats... I don't think I'm getting anything from my parents this year, I asked them not too.

My dad gives me £100 a month for food when I'm at uni, which in itself might as well be classed as a lifetime amounts of christmas presents, without it I would've had to quit halfway through my first semester...

I think you need to sit down and realise that in reality, your parents don't have to get you anything, so count yourself lucky you're going to get atleast something...

And I never said his parents bought it for him. I said he's getting all these things soon, and yet he makes himself sound as though he were short-changed.

FYI, I'm getting nothing for Christmas from my parents, who are far from poor. I was told to just buy what I want for Christmas and they'd pay me back. However, I'm happy with what I have. Hopefully, the OP can be happy too.

If I were you I would go out and try to find a new family that will teach you the true meaning of X-mas. And not complain that you won't be able to unwrap a nearly $3000 MacPro, and you may just end up with 2 DVD's.. My heart breaks for you.. Oh wait, nope that gas... nevermind

I'm with the others, why not learn the true meaning of Christmas, instead of being greedy about having to have stuff. And does not being able to open the Mac Pro on Christmas make it lose its value, I think not. You're getting the Mac Pro, isn't that enough?

with a MB and a MBP and now a MP, you need to do some serious thinking as to how lucky you actually are and start to be thankful for everything that you do have instead of wanting more..

Um ok, i am not getting all 3 of these things. I should have rephrased the post better. But disgusted for posting here? I better leave that one. I don't want to get kicked off the board

I wanted the mac pro because i am sick of taking my macbook pro to work, bring it home and having to unpack it and set it up all the time.

I am happy with what i have, my parents do not by me anything except on birthdays and christmas. If i want something i have to get it. If i can't afford it tough luck i will have some saving to do. All medical bills i pay for it.

Yes i am lucky. The fact that i can't drive is the reason why i can afford all these things. I don't have car repayments loans etc. I donate some of to the blind. I don't use the Macbook. My mum has that

Don't really care about his situation. Sorry, but try to read your post before you hit send. It came across as a very spoiled little brat. Oh poor me, I can't open my MacPro and my parents are whinning about what to get me, guess I'll be stuck with some DVD's.

Oh, BTW, big whaaaa that you have to come home from work and take a minute to hook your MBP back up. So I assume that when you do get your MacPro you will make another thread on how crappy it is that you have to transfer data between you MBP, your MB, and your MacPro?

Oh, and just to spearhead this, I am far from being jealous. Can't stand ppl who whine about having the things they want in life especially whine about X-Mas stuff. Learn what X-Mas is truly about first...

Wow, why so much hate? I think we are all intelligent enough to assume that the OP didnt exactly mean to sound spoiled(even though his post might have) and was just asking for some advice. No need to bash and hate on him, especially since half the posts bashing him have this horrible self-righteous tone to them(no offense).

Geez why don't you go cry about it? I can assure you i am far from being spoiled. Like i said before in my previous post. I have spare money because i don't drive. So i don't need to pay loans etc. My Parents ARE NOT buying this mac pro for me, i was going to get this for my self. The reason there complaining is because it will not arrive and i won't have anything to open but i guess thats my problem huh? in fact i just canceled the order.

Why would i make another thread about having the transfer information. - I do information transfers daily what do you think i am stupid?

I am regretting posting these thread, i was just chasing advise not a bashing match.

Mods please close this thread obviously a waste of time i don't want to get into a flaming match.
