'Three Hundred Bucks' ... they said with a shrug

So.. with extreme care and precaution while using my macbookpro which is like a year and a half old.. result: One fine day I turn on my computer to see vertical white lines that extend from the top of my screen to the end. An Apple store specialist tells me 'one of the cables on the inside has gotten pinched.. need 300$ + tax to get it fixed by our repair center.'

I dont have 300 bucks to spare on top of the 2000 I spent already...

Any suggestions/solutions that do not involve an external display?
