You can use Limewire and you can get viruses for a PC if you'd like to. But since there are not many (or none) viruses for Mac out there it is not very likely that you'll get one.

You never know what some crafty hacker has come up with. I haven't used Limewire in a long time, but I never had any issues.

Talking about Limewire usually leads to pirating stuff like music or software. That is prohibited on MacRumors forums.

As long as you're not downloading shady things and giving them root administrator priveliges, you're fine. You won't get viruses, but if a program is malicious and you give it access to your root user, you will get problems. As long as you don't do that, though, nothing downloaded on limewire can harm you.

I have a remote pc I use for downloading from limewire.
The files are downloaded to a folder, scanned using eset virus scanned and then moved to a seperate folder.
the corrupt files are quickly id'd by eset and erased.
