I have a imac and am running with Panther. Whenever I set the computer to put the hard drive to sleep I get an error when waking it up. All the error says is that I must shut the computer down and to hold the restart button down for a few seconds. It doesn't really tell me what the error is or why.

Anyone else getting this same error? It only happens when I have the hard drive set to sleep. It does not do it when only the display is set to sleep.

Screen going gray-ish? Restart message in numerous languages? What you got is a kernel panic my friend. Generally this is a hardware problem. I'm guessing something is wrong with your HD.

That is exaclty the message. Since it only happens when I put the hard drive to sleep do you think I am generally safe if I just don't ever put it on sleep, or am I doomed??
