If someone dropped their iPod into the toilet like at school or work, would you recommend that they try to get it out or just flush it? What about at home?

The ipod would be ****ed by then... But you could always get it out, I would. Wash my hands, then clean the ipod with rubbing alcohol. Then wash my hands again, then try and dry the pod out. Then if it still does not work, sell it one eBay for parts.

Depends, was it in clean water or not so clean water?

Some people may not take it into consideration whether it's clean or not and just stick their hand in to take it out .
If I was to do it find some gloves or something if at home. If I was in high school I'm not sure if I'm willing to stick my hand in those toilets...
Hopefully the person will learn form the lesson and be more careful next time haha.

Wouldn't flushing an iPod break your toilet?

I don't see how you could drop it in the toilet in the first place.. I mean, regardless of what you're doing, either you've got both hands busy or you're blocking the seat, ya know?
I'd say if it's a Shuffle, then flushle. If it's a more pricy one, depending again on the contents of the toilet, put on some gloves and get it out.
Or leave as a complimentary gift to the custodian.

A shuffle is very flushable.:p

I'd personally get it out of the toilet and do post #2 providing it wasn't occupied with a floater. Or a sinker, come to think of it!!
Be warned of the sneaky behind the U-bend surprises too!

How big would a toilet have to be to for these to fit through your legs?
And if you have a mac pro in your bathroom, well I'd be speechless.

If I pee'd or poo'd into the toilet, then no.
If not, then yes.

Yes, my dream office. Mac Pro, 3x 30" ACD's. With a toilet as my seat and a fridge/microwave in reach. Plus a phone, lol.

One of my wife's daycare kids dropped my Nintendo DS into the toilet a few months ago. Since it was in the "open position" it was too big to be flushed, so we fished it out. It was 100% dead and in spite of cleaning attempts, I wasn't able to bring it back to life. Depending on the size of the iPod, I'd get it out of the toilet even if you ended up throwing it away. Leaving it in and trying to flush it, might cause problems. After all an ipod isn't quite as "squishy" as poo, and probably wouldn't respond to plunging the same way.

That has nothing to do with them being in the toilet ;)
Would you even want to put them in your ears after that?

I dropped my old nano in a public pool, which is the equivalent of a toilet.
If you wanted to listen to music, where else would you wear them?
if you had the ipod calibrated correctly you could surgically implant the wires directly into your cochlea. so you could technically wear your head phone anywhere you wanted as long as the wire placed under your skin made contact with your implant. (I think like this a lot)

Why, pray tell, would you carry an iPod into the toilet... unless it fell out of your pocket and into the bowl???

Well if you have to ****, it's nice to have some music while doing so... When I had a laptop, I browse the net while doing so.

I would be more worried about the bottom of the laptop, with splatters and what not...

Lol... Hmmm, does Mac Books (Pro & None) have fans on the bottom? That kinda sucks having hat air blowing between your legs and down into the smelly water...

Hmmm... now you mention it, the vents are at the back and the intake is at the top. No hat air going down into the pan, although I'm puzzled as to what a hat is doing there.
I knew my Macs were optimal for something. Crap machines for taking a crap with - Genius.

I'm quite partial to that actually...
...Oh I see.
