We now have the 3G, but before the 3G there was the "Original Gangster", the iPhone OG.

If you wanna get technical it would be the 2.5G.
I think "1st gen" is the best sounding.

I thought it was referred to the Data speeds.
1G- GPRS
2G- EDGE
3G- 3G
so 2G would be the correct name for the First Gen.

That or you could not confuse people with the generation and the technology name and call it the EDGE phone instead or the first iphone or ver1 iphone but don't call it 2g, there is no 2G data speed and it's the first gen of the phone not the 2nd gen. p.s. why am i replying in this thread.. wth
