need all steps included in copying dvd

hi all. new to mac and would like to copy my copy of the goonies on dvd to give to my little cousin. how would i go about that? please don't leave anything out. encryptions, programs, file types, etc. thanks a lot

forgot to mention that i do in fact have a superdrive in my macbook
