maybe I'm just slow or dumd, but I've been thinking, what does the prefix "i" stand for in the apple product line... ipod, imac, ibook, iphoto, imovie, itunes, etc. ???

Originally it was used for the iMac. The "i" stood for "internet". The whole idea was that the iMac was a computer designed for easy access to the internet. Ironically though, the first ones shipped with a puny little 33.6k modem :p

It's just caught on now, and is used as a suffix for consumer models (i know, suffix means 'at the end of the word', but you know what i mean ;)).

Hey mr.w, you might want to fix your sig... Why anyone would want a terrabite... a bit is 1/8 of a byte... Come on people, you have to know this stuff...

As for the i in the software and hardware, how about innovative?? That works. :p :D

BTW, my vote is on the 'slow'... :D

Nope. When Jobs announced it in May of '98 he said it would have a 33.6 modem, but the backlash took care of that before anything was sold. When the iMacs were released on August 15th of 1998, they did indeed have 56K modems installed. I should think an iMac with a real apple 33.6 modem installed (and therefore a pre-release prototype/demo model) would be worth quite a bit.
