Ok, so I'm a student at a technology academy. Our network admin is fairly intelligent and changes the Wi-Fi WEP every so often. This is for the soul fact that she can see my friends and I on the network. A little background, about a month ago we decided to try and crack the wifi of our school. We had run about 25 brute forcers but never had any luck. Finally we got a hold of a school laptop and used oph cracker to load the hash for the WEP encryption. This was successful and we now had ourselves the password. It turned out this sucker was 64 characters long.No wonder the brute-forcers didn't work:)
Furthermore, we need a way to change the mac address to emulate a PC or make it look like a PC to the network admin. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
My friend is doing it on his Ipod touch 2ndGen.And I have a 15 inch MBP.
Now I know this isnt the most "studious" thing to be doing in school but I figure if I can hold a 3.5 GPA I should be fine. So dont beat me up to bad:)))))So if anyone could help me out with this,I would be very grateful:)
ITS TO MAKE IT LOOK LIKE A SCHOOL LAPTOP SO WE CAN USE VIRTUAL DRIVES NOT HACKING

If you're looking for instructions on how to hack a wireless network, especially that of a school's, you've come to the wrong place.

If the school will not disclose their passkey, you ought to respect their wishes and not attempt to connect unauthorized computers to their network.

First off-no competent network admin would ever, ever, ever use WEP for encryption for the exact reasoning that you are asking us to provide you with. You are basically asking for assistance in hacking someone else's network which is against the law. As for "getting a hold of a school laptop" that sounds an lot like you stole it. If you want to go to jail then by all means hack your schools network but dont be surprised if you get a knock on your door from someone asking what it is you are doing.

by no means did we steal it. and thats not hacking. dumbass people. have you never seen kids using laptops in class for sometime of assignment.Have you never seen a flashdrive. Yea, come people. All I want to do is use the network for the soul purpose of using my virtual drive to access my Engineering files. not hacking. Hacking is more complex.

I am sorry but you ARE hacking. You used brute-force-that IS hacking. Stealing a password is HACKING. Asking how to fake a MAC address is spoofing which is a HACKING technique.

If I wanted to hack, I could really do some damage with backtrack linux.
Am i doing that? no. Am I mal intentioned? no. Am I one of those 15 year old kids who wants to change grades cause he sucks at school? no.
What did you do when you were a kid?
Did you go all by the rules cause it was exciting?
Did you ever go beyond your sandbox?
Intelligence, knowledge, and curiosity are a deadly combination.
Lets go with the public school system and help demote creativity and get those punks who are always "hacking".
Were you one of those kids?
Sorry for being smart sir.
I'll try to be a little more stupid next time.

First off, calling people names is not the right thing to do. If this is for a school project than you need to talk to your network admin to gain permission and do it through the right channels. From your original post it does appear that you are trying to hack the system. You might want to re-read your original post from our perspective before you start calling names.

Secondly, no one here will (or should) help you do anything that might seem to be illegal or against a policy. You would know this if you read the rules of this forum. Even if you say it's for a school project people still should not help you as it is against forum policy...

Just for the record: Under Hackers we'd call what he did cracking, not hacking.

sorry.
didnt read the forum rules.
its not against the law to "find out" the password though.
its not against the law to change your mac adress either.
you can do it right from terminal.
its ipconfig l epson I think.
not hard. i just want to know if you can make a mac look like a PC from a network admins point of view.

It is against the law to use a wireless network without permission, even if it is open without a password/WEP/WPA etc.

/thread.
