i've seen a few of these threads in the past and i enjoy them much more than snapshots of people's desktops... it's interesting and always educational to actually see how other people use their computers... it also tells a lot about people... tell's whether some are organized or extremely geeky (millions of computer in small space ;)

an older thread like this helped me tweak my computer setup so i'm slightly more productive... i've found the perfect arrangement for my dual displays (finally!)

i'm only a high school student and don't have many resources (and am limited on what i can construct in my room), but one day i hope to have a setup similar to dukestreet's media lab... that thing was awesome

anyways... here's my current setup... please post your's!

My desk...
I have a long, short room, so I had to take two pics and stick them together. Very rough job, but you get the idea.

My server's desk...

wait a minute... your priorities must be a little bit confused... you have a cinema display on your server when you have a smaller crt on your desktop...

maybe i'm just confused  :D

The server is a multi-purpose machine, it does more than just sit there and serve. It just gets called 'the server'

wow. That tower looks precarious up there.... I'm sure it's fine in real life, but in the photo it looks SO on the edge---ready to fall down.

Cool set up though. And nice system 7 box. :)

I've posted this before, but I'll do it again, seeing as how it will be changing drastically in a few months.

We're putting in a new full bathroom in the basement, almost finished, and this what it used to look like. Right now I'm stuck in the corner of the room, where the 21" monitor is, with crap stored all around me, stuff moved there while the other half of the basement is being worked on.

Thats quite incredible, wish I had that much space so I could put in a drawig table, as it is , I have to go downstairs to draw.

But where are the windows~ doh!

Mr. Anderson
Jun 24, 2002, 10:31 AM
It is in my basement. There are two windows, inset in the boxes near the ceiling.

My new setup might be upstairs, I'm not sure at this point. We'll have to wait until the basement is cleaned up.

those are all nice setups

mine is so boring and not worth posting

i have two desks;

1) with ibook, epson 740 and lexmark printers, and an hp scanner

2) with compaq laptop and epson 480 sxu printer

...and i really like to do as much computing from bed with either laptop to make things comfy:p

Its very ugly at the moment. We had an addition added to our house and we never got around to redoing the computer room. I plan on painting the room soon, but here is what I have.
This is what is in the pic
iMac
Perfoma
HP printer
Old Color stylewriter 2500

here's mine, there is supposed to be a 19 TV on top of the VCR. The Sawtooth has a one gig upgrade in it, and the pismo, painted blue, is going G4 as soon as the box from Nuec gets here.

My Old crappy Peecee; my TV; iBook poster (http://irmongoose.150m.com/desk2.jpg)

Its under the monitor on the left.

Wow, everybody wants to see!:D :D
Sorry to bug and not come back, I'll post a picture of it later. Its blue on the sides with the flat black rubber in the middle left that way. I also made the apple logo glow blue. n I haven't changed the pulsing sleep light yet, as it requires soldering and such.

I also noticed that somebody's desktop had a green power light. Is that a mod? If enouh people have mods going, I'll start a whole new thread.

how did you manage that one?
i think a mod thread would be cool, unfornatally my iBook is un modified, except for the extra ram, but thats unintresting.

I also put a couple of others so blue shines out the top left and right front corners of the case. The blue light refacts all through the clear handle. Wicked.

Here's a more detailed look at the desk itself (http://www.blakespot.com/desk). Other shots of the room in general can be found on my geeky computer list page (http://www.blakespot.com/list), including a QTVR at the bottom (though it is somewhat dated).

Anyway, here's my current shot (tho it lacks the new iBook 700 I've acquired):

It took all day one Saturday and every following evening for one week to get it built, sanded, finished, etc. Well worth it for the space it provides. I dropped my one of my Amigas (Amiga 1200 tower) and so now have a bit more space, with room for my iBook next to the G4 (where the Apple IIgs once was).

AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME desk. Great woodworking-- and nicely done and perfect for someone with so many machines. :)

Hope you're (and i think you are) super proud of your work!

That's deifinitely the way to go Blakespot. A custon built desk is just the key. I have my machines ten feet apart to create some lat space on the desk, but a desk made to fit would be wonderfull. Do you still keep the plans around? I'm not really a carpenter, so I wouldn't know where to begin, but any general advice would be apreciated.:D
