Hey Everybody,

I am going to buy the gtx 285 today for my 2008 mac pro with 8800gt and had a few loose ends I would like to be answered. I have been searching for the last few days so no telling me to search please.

First off, I have both optical drives filled so I am planning on splitting the power from the molex connection from one of the optical drives. Besides the splitter do I need some sort of adapter to go from a 4 pin to a 6 pin? I believe I power the 8800gt from this connection correct? Also does the 8800gt have a 6 or 8 pin? Is it better just to get rid of one of the optical drives?

Secondly, is there a brand of nvidia cards I should purchase one I should stay away from? Is EVGA better than BFG .... and where is a good place to buy?

To Sum up what I percieve is correct,

I connect the 285 with the two six pin logicaboard outlets.
I connect my older 8800gt from the optical drive by splitting the 4 pin molex cable and using some sort of adapter? Or can I directly plug the split cable into the 8800gt?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Your right. That was uncalled for. Just don't see the point of someone going on a thread just to say that. there are thousands of threads on the website you think this is going to make a difference? just wanted to put it in a better forum. No one is forcing you to read it.

Yes. If everyone follows the rules, the seven point four million posts on this forum are shrunk to about three million. It's easier to wade through when you don't have duplicate threads, across OP and from the same OP both.
