Does anyone play foosball? If you do, do you play in any tournaments? I'm just curious as to how big foosball is in the Mac community.

I assume "foosball" was a typo, and not some new american sport. Which 'football' do you mean? American 'pansy' Football, or the european flavour? :D

When i was at college (a-levels), i played for the football team. I also played on the team that my summer-work place put together last summer. I play defence, out on the right.

I was lucky enough to grow up with one from quite an early age. I've gone without it for about two years now sence my brother took it up to his appartment at college. But as it turns out he's done and soon to move out and i just rented a house so will be picking it up from him in the near future (perhaps tonight). i'm interested in getting replacement men too if anybody knows a good place online. the only problem is the table seems to be quite a mystery with no brand name on it. I've wanted to play in the tournaments at my college but all three ended up being early saturday morning. I've only played sparingly sence my table has been gone but i'm still quite good. i guess its kind of like riding a bike

You sure it wasn't left...left out? ;)

Yea, I love football. My dad played semi-pro for the chargers, and was QB for the Wolverines in the Orange Bowl (74-76)

As for foosball, well, that sucks. I really don't find the skill involved....

BritBoy, I do mean foosball, aka Table Soccer.

Oddfuzz, there are many places online where you can get replacement men. www.foosballstore.com sells them. Their site is a little messed up right now, but they usually have the best prices.

MacAztec, there's plenty of skill involved in foosball. You should check out a tournament some time. There are some awesome foosball players out there.

hmm...I pretty much suck...:D

I'm not into it that much to be honest...pool neither...

I actually prefer not to spend time in a bar like that...I'd rather be at my favorite spot sitting on the porch having a drink or in a dance club... ;)

Yeah. I read what macaztek had written, and figured that perhaps there was such a thing as 'foosball'. Did a quick google search, and found www.foosball.com, and realised what it was. I've played it loads before, but never heard it called that.

You're right about the skill though. Some of these german guys are pretty much unbeatable! Luck has a little bit to play in it, but skill determines the outcome over a best-of-10 match.

I would tend to agree. Neither "flavour" is pansy, in my opinion.

Britboy,

I know this isn't the right place for this, but I noticed that, in a different post, you were having trouble setting up Q3A. Did you ever get it figured out? I can't get it working in OS X. I posted my problem in the game forum.

No, i never did get it working. In about a weeks' time i'm planning one doing a low-level pass on my hard drive. I've been having a few quirks over the past few weeks, and disk utilities/a normal reinstall haven't solved them. I'll try to remember to get back to you on it after then.

Is there a user guide for installing Q3A under OS X?

I think that all 3 sports require plenty of toughness. Some in different ways then others.

Just trying to be the mediator.

Have you even seen a real rugby player? They most deffinitely do not fit your image of a "100 pound pretty white man". Jonah Lomu, plays for New Zealend..... he's one big mofo. Not such a hot player anymore, but in the 95 world cup he kicked ass! Martin Johnson, another huge rugby player...... these guys are *big*, and could out-drink and out-fight your fat american rugby pansies any day of the week.

Ok, i'm just goading you now. Sorry :D Rugby players are pretty damn tough though. You should try watching it on sky (or whatever sports channel airs it) next time england whip australia.

no they wouldnt. some of them can run circles around a frekin jack rabbit ( probably catch them and barbque them:D) much less a european. they frekin train thier arses to be big and run fast. i dont know exaclty how they do it but they do.

and i have not a thing with black men! why do you ask?

dig it.

The only instructions i was able to find are the basic one's on macgamefiles.com. You have to install the 1.30 update, and then 1.31 afterwards. Is that what you tried?

whats the average weight size? yes ive seen them rugby players...most of them look like american junior high or middle school kids anyways. thats why you all dont were pads...heh. im sure there are isolated cases. i put money on our american football players being way more stronger and tougher then your european guys. no disrespecting man just stating the obvious.

Take Ray Lewis, and your rugby guy. Match em up, and I guarentee Lewis would beat the living ***** out of him. Same with about any american football player.

You know Ronnie Lott? Now that guy was a big mofo....

An average weight/size would not do justice to the sheer brutality of the sport. You've got different types of players, who need different builds for their particular role. Just to be sure, you are talking about rugby union, not rugby league, aren't you?

It is because they never live that long, do you imagine what is to do almost the same thing as "american football" but without protection?

I played football (not the american one as we call it) and beside been a very funny and simple game, the problem (in a big game) is to be able to run back and foward 1000 times and been able to hit the ball to your partner at the other side of the field before the 3 other gys from the oposite team get you. It is a non stop game almost.
