View Full Version : Quest for 500

Jun 26, 2002, 02:14 PM
Well in 23 days I will have been here for a year. And I am at a lowly 232 post count compared to a few members that have joined as recently as may and have 500+ posts. So my goal is to get the 268 post I need within 23 days. Thats about 12 posts a day. Thinks it's possible?
BTW- I know this is a dumb an pointless post but thats #1 for today.

That's gonna be tough. Unless you just post in EVERY thread...

"I agree" or "I don't agree" etc.

But then you may find some getting a bit annonyed if u did that :D

Jun 26, 2002, 02:34 PM
well, I know how you feel. I've posted maybe twenty times today, but I'm stuck at work and our AS400 is down, so I'm just fooling around all day. Anyway, I'm close to 100 and that cool, I'll probably get there at this rate.

Verbose is right though, just posting for nothing is dumb, I'm at least trying to say intelligent stuff. Not that you aren't, but sometimes people just babble.

Well, it'll be one year in 11 months, and 28 days. I'm not too worried about making 500, I'll make it, and I won't even have to start my own thread about it!

At least spuncan realizes that this is pointless, so I won't flame him for it. :)

However, I would like to see a few less crappy and ridiculous posts/forums. Examples: (1) the word game developed this morning, (2) Yes, I'll admit it, the signature forum (finally the damn thing was closed), and (3) this post I still remember from the article discussions:

At least I keep mine lengthy or fun (with some exceptions), but I would like to see fewer people with bulls!!t posts. At least make them smell half as bad.

Stop complaining about it, it's over now.

Well, I remember the good old days when I was dreaming of what my avatar would be. he,he.

Seriously. As long as you find good conversation and post intelligent responses that mean something, then go for it. Just stay away from the "i agree" and "bump" type of posts. Keep it good. That is what people around here respect.

Easy there, captain java. It was just an example. If things do get a lot lower than the word thing then that may mean some people getting really ticked off.

I am trying to say that things that involve absolutely no intelligent discussion and are boring as h!!! need to be removed.

The word thing is fun. And, I will admit, that was a rather bad example.

But as long as we don't have a discussion, such as "Which room do you sleep in?", we should be all right. Keep up the great word!

Ok King Cobra, fair enough, I may have got a little offended a little to quickly by u using the word game thread as an example.
But I hear what your saying and agree, just lets not go nutz at people for the occasional dodgy thread or post, does it really matter? I don't think so...this is a public forum after all :D

Good luck Spuncan, Its a big acheivement when you get there. My goal is to have 1000 posts by the end of the summer which for me ends on Sept. 20, our school opens late this year so I've got to get about 320 more posts. I wonder if we will have more than 75 with 500 by the end of the summer.

Don't worry, about reaching 500, I have been a member since March last year, and still not up to the 'magical' 500.
Few months back I had lot's of free time and posted at rate of +10 a day, but then both private and work, really started flying, and so I'm stuck at 334 now.

It should be possible to do a +10 post a day, but don't compare with guys whom have lot's of time on their hands, or are working in I'net environment.

reaching 500 we all do eventually (if you post from time to time of course ;) )

You are over 12 posts a day at the moment, but you are pretty new, most peoples posts tend to slow down a bit after the initial novelty wares off.

For the record - a while back when things were a bit more active, jelloshotrules managed almost 200 post in one 24 hour period. At that same time I managed around 160, so given 23 days to get there, you need to post a little over 10 a day, not very difficult at all.

hehehehehe.....yeah...this is soooo true.

At that time I was getting about 50-70 a day, I remember when I got to 500, later that week I was at 700....but now the forums have slowed down, and I've become busier, and ths posts are not so frequent.

I wonder what my avg posts is currently...

I'm still wondering when the topic of post count/avg. posts per day is ever going to die?

I think it's great to see the enthusiasm for the newer members to achieve the avatar status...but have u noticed there's less concern about it than before?

It'll never die. As long as the post count is shown under your handle, it's going to be used for a forum version of a pissing contest.

There's probably less concern about the 'big' 500 now because there are over 30 members with one. There's no novelty value to it anymore (unlike when you reached the 6502 status, and hit us all with the dreaded kewpie doll :D :D).

Sheridan's an awesome guy and a GREAT teacher. Which is why you should stay in Drawing and Design.

he's 32, Dont know HOw old Laura is....only met her once actually...

I'm credited as animation assistant. I'm doing pencil tests, some stuff in photoshop (coloring mostly), amd some stuff with after effects. Namely putting footage together and placing the mouths for sync. No actual animation...but good nontheless and a credit for the resume :D PLus its fun and I get free food. ;)

well yeah, it is... but i really don't have interest in drawing. i mean, i know it's good to know no matter what.... but if that takes time away from the what will end up beign the main part of my portfolio, then it may not be worth it... i don't want to animate traditional stuff anyways. yeah, it's still great for 3D and storyboarding and whatnot. but you know what i'm saying....

i don't have em finished. my partner just got back from europe so we're working on ideas... will let you know what we get worked out. all i know right now is that i really want to stay clear of humanoids if possible..... ha

ps. if i felt dumb in action 2 not being able to draw (though my technical skills always got good reviews) then imagine how much dumber i'd feel when everyone else is wizzing through these cool 3d drawings and i'm like... how does a stick figure arm look from the side.... like a shorter stick???? ahh...

Whiney, schminey...this is moral outrage plain and simple. I'm taking a stand for all the people who hate to read all this BS because they're too self-centered and have no senses of humor!!!

Go write each other a letter, or better yet a telegraph, and don't come cluttering up the forums!!!

   ;) :p :D

No, there's nothing wrong with being a crackhead...if you're addicted to crack.
