Okay since you guys have no rumors to keep you occupied, maybe you can help me think off a good name for a design company.
Am currently operating under my own name and think that maybe another would be good. I myself was initially thinking about name like ”Bob’s Your Uncle” or ”dingbat graphics” but they seem a bit contrived. So.... any thoughts?

Take something you're familliar with, associated with, etc. and use that if you're not happy with just using your name. When I do freelance I use Dukestreet Productions - I have dukestreet.com as well for email, so it works for me. It shouldn't be too difficult.

One of the adavantages of having your name in the title of your business name is not having to file a D.B.A. (Doing Business As). This will allow you to deposit checks from clients addressed to you (ie. Jason Brown Design). These checks can be signed directly by you and deposited into your bank without having a "Business Checking" account (READ: saves money).

Also, if you're gonna change the name of your company, think about the core of what you do, and expand/abstract from there, just make sure you promote the name change with all of your current clients!

What about "pixel pooper"??? :D

Just kidding...

I guess I can't help you on that one a lot. If I had a good idea I would keep it for myself! ;)

But I like names that are metaphoric. Something like "beehive garphics" doesn't sound too bad to me.

names always sound corny when you think them up...

i looked thru many of my favorite poetry books to find my company name..though the hip thing now seems to be in-your-face names like:slam, thonk, crushing...etc. damn glad i'm not hip...too much pressure.

you could always name it " can o whoopass " but you'd have to pay alpha royalties....:D

btw, i settled on " surface and dream" from a ralph waldo emerson poem.
