Hi

I have finally got around to making myself a website (After many years of not bothering :))

Its at:

http://www.brooklineuk.com/gw/

Let me know what you think, I am pretty sure the site does not contain any Javascript (I am not a fan of J$ even though I learn't how to code it a few years back :))

Thanks,
Ensign (Guy Wickenden)

Very nice layout, simple but effective, nice work! :D
Just one thing, the main page (index.html) does not render correctly in Mozilla, but looks fine in IE, but all the other pages do render correctly in both browsers, so it seems just to be a problem with index.html

It's Brian May, you've never heard of the massive rock band Queen???

I had to redo the main page at the last minute because i mucked up the HTML, I will aim to improve it in Mozilla.

The guy on the front is Brian May (Queen Guitairst) he is my favourite artist of all time. There is a link to his website in the Music Section.

Thanks for the good comments :)

I think that pic is of him playing the national anthem on the roof of Buckingham Palace at the Quees Jubliee celebrations.

exactly :)

Originally the picture was Joe Cocker but then I decided to replace it with Brian may because my father suggested people might think I was the guy in the picture and I would prefer people to think I was Brian May and not Joe Cocker.

ROCK ON JOE!

Nice site Ensign.
I was looking at the SW section and saw your blurb about FCP being used on AOTC. I'm not sure about that but in this months MacAddict there is a story about how all the sound editing was Mac based.

Yo Ensign, what did you use to build the site? Was it done the old fashioned way (HTML by hand) or did you use GoLive or Dreamweaver? I'm working on a site, and I'd like to know what you used in the hopes that this doesn't have to be such a laborious process. Thanks man. :)

One last thing, Ensign. Snood is the BOMB!!! Nice site all around, man. Diggin' on the Brian May, as well as the vast majority of your music page. It's not everyday you find a true badminton fan, either...;)

To build the site I used BBEdit and Golive, I really should take a look at DreamWeaver, because people talk so highly of it but I never really have got the time :) Too much posting!

Ensign -

I like the simplicity of your site. The color scheme is nice, too. One comment, though: you might want to increase the font size a bit. Maybe I'm just getting old (ha), but font size=1 is TINY. I had to increase the text size in my browser to read it. I suspect that you're using a huge display and that's why you're using such small text... but just remember that the vast majority of us aren't! :)

The font size is small, I will correct this when I redo the front page.

There is no picture of me yet :)

ensign what do you think of iframe?

Ensign Paris
Jul 1, 2002, 03:01 PM
By iFrame do you mean the device Apple is rumored to be making that is basicly a a device that shows pictures on an LCD screen? I love the idea of it, although I would prefer a colour Newton :)

Heh heh... I've been in hiding. Actually, I was out of town for a week, then had family here for two more weeks. They left this weekend, but now I'm sooo behind in work and homework it'll probably be a few more days before I'm back here all regular-like.

Oh, and I'm using OmniWeb. :)

Does it look ok in Omni? I took it off my machine when IE5.2 arrived :)

I think krossfyter is talking about the <iframe src="document.html"></iframe> tags, personally I don't use them as I think only IE supports them, or atleast as far as I know.

That iFrame thing is pretty cool , normally I hate frames on websites but that version looks quite cool!

which one are you looking at ensign?

link it if possible.

Ensign Paris

If you mean an example of sites that I don't think that uses frames it would have to be

G4Powermac.com

I am testing the iFrames thing with a few HTML files on my computer.

I banged out this in a few minutes... Take a look here...

http://www.mythologieproductions.com/sample.html

Look at the code and see how it works.. Or better yet save the file and pay with it in dreamweaver.... It may answer some questions.

I used tables and layers as you did...

Again. Be careful with layers... They can get tricky and be seen differently in different browsers.

Good Times.
