Since the palm pre will be the iPhone killer, what will Apple do with all the unsold iPhones? Do they usually just give a big discount to try to get rid of them? Are we going to get a free iPhone on a purchase of a mac?

Sell all of the remaining stock, then 1 week later, release the new iPhone.

Really? Really!
If the Pre somehow kills the iPhone (:rolleyes:) then they will be left for possible replacements to those that stop working.

The Pre is not an iPhone killer. They are on different networks, and appeal to different people. I have talked to plenty of very non-technical people who ask questions like "Everyone knows Apple, but what is Palm?", or "The Pre has a stupid looking design, whats the point?".

The Pre is not going to kill the iPhone because its not being released on AT&T which would require people to switch carriers, and since many people switch to AT&T for the iPhone, lots of people won't want to play the carrier dance again to get the Pre.

There seems to be a buzz on these forums about the Palm pre (not all positive) Here in the UK theres not much talk of it at all....Hypeless. From what iv seen of the pre it reminds me of something from yesteryear :confused: Very dated, Early 90s springs to mind. In fact id go as far as saying IMO its pretty damn Ugly.
Now im not the biggest fan of my iphone either but in terms of aesthetics (call me shallow) ;) you could never describe it as unpleasing to look at (And i do think this is important of any phone...Right?) and to be honest im liking it a bit more every day, even tho it lacks some basics :D But thats another thread. The pre would have to have some major revolutionary OS feats up its sleeve for it to truly rival the iphone. Its just not a looker...Is it?

The better question would be how many iPhone killers have failed miserably? What has Alltel/Verizon done with all of the HTC Touch leftovers... one of the original iPhone killers?
