Here's what mine said:

You are Amiga OS. Ahead of your time. You keep a lot of balls in the air. If only your parents had given you more opportunities to suceed.

I don't even know what Amiga OS is....

Congratulations!

You are FreeBSD.

You're a speed demon and a great networker. You have a tendency to give it away for free. Well-respected but virtually unknown.

You are Palm OS

Punctual, straightforward, and very useful. Your mother wants you to do more with your life like your cousin Wince, but you're happy with who you are.

You are Debian Linux.
People have difficulty getting to know you. Once you finally open your shell they're apt to love you.

You are Apple Dos.
Simple and primitive with a good understanding of the common man. You're still a work in progress, but a good start.

You are OS X.
You tend to be fashionable and clever despite being a bit transparent. Now that you've reached some stability you're expecting greater popularity.

You are Windows 98.
You're a bit flaky, but well-liked. You don't have a great memory, but everyone seems to know you. A great person to hang out with and play some games.

You are Palm OS.
Punctual, straightforward and very useful. Your mother wants you to do more with your life like your cousin Wince, but you're happy with who you are.

You are Slackware Linux.
You are the brightest among your peers, but are often mistaken as insane. Your elegant solutions to problems often take a little longer, but require much less effort to complete.

I think it was because I chose to be Charles Manson as my villain choice. Has anyone ever seen the video of that guy in his parole hearings? Damn, it's one wacked out dude.

Anyway, interesting little personality quiz...

Yes, I admit it, I have multiple personality disorder :p
I let each of my personalities fill out the survey, so I could post them.

Actually, I was trying to see how many different OSes they would use, and apparently it is a lot, and changing the answer to one question WILL change the outcome.

I'm a bit astonished that these OSes are so unknown -- so far, these are still "common" ones...

No fair!!!! I want to be Amiga OS! :) *pouting* I got HP-UX -- "You're still strong despite the passage of time. Though few understand you, those who do love you deeply and appreciate you."

Oh, and shame on you for not knowing what Amiga OS is! Out of curiousity, did you say Assembly was your favorite language? The crowning principle of good Amiga software was to dump the OS in as few commands as possible at the beginning of the program. :)

BTW, I like the "If I end up being WinME, somebody's going to get hurt." :D

so then I became RedHat Linux

it's amazing how many people have never heard of Debian. I mean, knowing what it is is another thing, but it's a pretty common word to hear in tech circles...

Anyway, i was OS2/Warp. Which, i *think* i was last time i took this. Fine with me, it's one of the few OS's that i think was worth being coded, despite being ignored by everyone on earth...

I am OSX.

By the way, anyone notice that this site is posted about every 7 weeks. They haven't even updated it in 2 years. I've been OSX each time I take It, so I refuse to take it again.

Please just put a link to this page on Mac Bytes and quit having 400 threads on it.

true, the test hasnt been updated but bbspot.com is a larger comedic site, brian briggs doesnt generally update the quizzes because he's too busy doing the rest of the site.

Are you a DeluxePaint fan? :) I loved DP when I was a kid...I made animations and all kinds of cool stuff. Of course there were a much more manageable number of pixels on the screen back then, to use a bitmap paint program....

Did you make MOD music too? I remember we had some program that was called....MED if I recall correctly, that could make some pretty good music without too much hassle. Four channels, two a side, had to double up if you wanted stereo! :)

yep, I used deluxe paint :D
I'd happily sit in front of the amiga for hours clicking away with the worlds most uncomfortable mouse drawing pictures and making animations. then I'd print them out on my dot-matrix printer which was so loud you had to go upstairs if you didn't want to go deaf.
I cleared out my room a few weeks ago and found a whole load of printed out pictures, the print quality is awful, but the pictures are great.
next year I'll be at university doing illustration, and I use computers at some point in just about every drawing I do. that amiga has alot to answer for :D

nope, never got a chance to try that.
my first go at making music with a computer will be later this year when I get a mac with garage band

ahhh....good old memories. I had a couple of friends who would come over and we'd do collaborative art and music in our A500.... Not that I don't like photo quality bubble jets and vector drawing programs, but there was such an innocence to computing back then.

It is really cool that you stuck with art & graphic design though....

One more funny memory of those times...remember the Swiss Cracking Association virus. At least on the Amiga, when virii ruined the boot disks of your copy protected software, you were given witticisms and cool graphics shows in exchange. :(

I used to have OS2/Warp, it was a very solid OS.

The only problem I ever had with OS2, besides the bad marketing of the Warp idea, was that we always had to use it on 386SX computers for some reason, and there was some business, IIRC, with that processor being front side 16 bit and back side 32 bit, so since OS/2 was a 32 bit OS, it had to use two clock cycles to load every command, and so it was running at maddeningly slow speeds.

My freshmen engineering computing class was like the last year Fortran was the language used (the CS/EE people had been on C/C++ for a long time already), and I'll never forget being in that lab at 2 in the morning, everyone waiting 10 minutes for a program to compile in MS Fortran on OS/2, and screaming in pain wheen the computer crashed mid-compile (half the time). :D
