Too bad applecare does not cover "accidental damage" only manufacturer defects :)

Hmmm... you're a newbie, selling a never opened 17'' inch powerbook. What exactly is your story? Did you just happen to have one laying around?

I'm confused, did you steal this computer, or are you just new to Macs?

How the hell does someone get a brand new NEVER opened Powerbook.

If you bought one wouldnt you open it?

If you stole it, wouldnt you open it?

If you found it, wouldnt you open it?

I dont get it.

Ohhhh it doesnt exist, now that is very easy NOT to open.
LOL :p

maybe he bought it a week before the new PB's were released, and by the time it came to him, newer speedbumped models were available ? .
and the Restock Fee would cost him more than the difference of selling it here and buying the new one later..

sorry if i won't pass judgement like everyone else... but i always notice alot of unopened previous model mac's available for sale on sites like this or eBay right after a speedbump.

Honestly, I'd rather be flamed than see someone fall for yet another PB scam. Regarding the bit about Applecare, that was tongue-in-cheek, I apologize for any confusion it might've caused... *grin* I am not the seller, but as he's a friend of mine, I agreed to list it for him. :) The reason they're not opened is because he recieved them a few days before the 1.5's were released, and consequently couldn't sell them. :p They weren't "personal computers", by any means. ;) If you're interested in actually purchasing one, and you had any other questions, feel free to ask me... Heck, if you want to, just gimme a call. :D Also, since you took the time to point out my "newbie" status, feel free to come over to Spymac sometime, and say hi! My SN is the same over there. :) If you're local to the Bay Area, you won't even have to pay for shipping, since you can arrange to pick it up in person. Happy shopping, folks.

Can't you just send it back without a restocking fee if it's unopened.

Yea- I agree, you should be able to return it unopened without the stocking fee. When I bought my PB, I originally bought the 15in, went home, didn't open it because I had to be somewhere that night, thought about my purchase while I was at my event, decided I wanted the 17in. Took the 15in back to the Apple Store the next day and Voila! The restocking fee wouldve been 259.00. Is that not nuts. You can also return it within the right timeframe and Apple bumps it up to the current upgrade for you. (Elementary info I know, but nonetheless) The sure-fire way to know if it were stolen or not is to identify the serial number etc.

I'm also trying to sell my pBook on this board and I've gotten a few "interesting" emails and I've gotten a LOT of people trying to pull a fast one in reverse off CraigsList.org

Do DELL's get this a lot, or is it that Apple is like the "Mercedes" of the computing world--everyone wants to jack one?
