So I was in the market for a new laptop, my blackbooks logic board crapped out. I had about 3000 to spend..

..24 hours later I ended up with a Cal King Tempur Pedic mattress and a dell xps 1530. WIN?!! I think so. Windows 7 isnt that bad IMO, they even have a 'dock'. So far I havent missed my mac yet, and thoroughly enjoying this xps and this mattress!

Thanks?

Maybe this isn't the right forum for this. The XPS laptops are quite nice, but still a little chunky for my tastes.

Money is always nice to have spent properly. Then again, the Cal Kings are quite nice, but still a little chunky for my tastes.

It's almost like the princess and the pea.

yeah its a bit smushy at first, but it actually feels like youre laying on a cloud. I got mine for 3,000 and the dell for 800..went over my budget a little bit. Ill probably return the dell and get the new uMB once(if) the update happens at next week or whatever. Windows 7 RC isnt so bad imo..anyone else here use it?

I've got 7 Beta setup for BootCamp. I think I've used it twice for legit reasons and then a couple times just to play around. I didn't get around to updating to RC just because the updater was shot when I went to get it originally.

That's neat that it's comfortable, I tried one and I didn't like it. Then I ended up with a mattress so firm that my scant 160lbs on a 6'3" frame didn't make a dent, literally.

I hate the whole laying on a cloud analogy, clouds aren't remotely dense enough to hold up a person so how could anyone even think that? I think it's more like a marshmallow. Sorry to bust up the party but I've never liked that. Laying on a cloud=skydiving.:mad::mad: I'm over it now.:)

You're right, clouds are not nearly dense enough to actually lay on it, but its just a way of saying its really soft. IMO its nothing like a marshmallow, and not overly squishy like the display models at the furniture store. On the other hand, Im just a 140 pound person..Id imagine someone heavier would probably sink real deep into the foam :D

I have a Dell XPS M1330. I took it to Best Buy and compared it with a Mackbook 13" Unibody. I really wanted the Macbook. Really Really did. But the Macbook screen was inferior to the Dell screen. I had them side by side. I kept moving up and down looking like a freak in the store, testing the vertical viewing. The Macbook had almost no room to move at all vertically before the contrast started changing. Since the screen is #1 priority, I will stay with the XPS M1330 untill Apple decides to not rip the public off with a inferior screen on a high end product.
