A source that has been correct before has informed me that a representative from Verizon (Exec) was explaining to her that there will be a new phone announced Monday in several flavors. One being designed specifically for Verizon to be released in Late September early October. That will be the surprise news that no one will be expecting. I personally am on AT&T and have nothing to gain by this, but I thought I should put it out there. Flame on...

Doesn't really make sense because the iPhone was supposed to be AT&T exclusive until 2010, no? However, that was for the original so who knows if the new models are included in the original AT&T contract.

I personally think that the iPhone will go to crap if it goes to Verizon. Verizon will want to put all of the useless stuff like "Get It Now" and etc. That will make the iPhone less outstanding and unique.

I could see the rumored iPhone mini going to Verizon. And you know what that would mean? It means the NFL could release an app similar to MLB's this fall since the exclusivity contract with Verizon would include Apple.

Why would they make a special variant for a single carrier using a now rare wireless standard that's at the end of its life?

Infineon doesn't make CDMA baseband chips.

I can't even imagine them making a TD-SCDMA variant of the iPhone made just for China Mobile (the world's largest carrier). Instead they will partner with the UMTS-WCDMA carrier in China (China Unicom) and disable the WiFi hardware.
