Web accelerator..help

HI,

I've recently came accross web or internet accelerators. Seemingly, you can increase the speed of your internet connection. Since, broadband is still not available in the area where I live, I thought I could download one of these accelerators.....questions are....do they really make a difference and which one should I use with an Ibook G4?

i dont think there is a way to use one on a modem the accelerators used by aol just terribly compress images so pages load faster i believe you can do what is called shot gunning and use multiple dial up connections. not sure how it works tough
