Yeah...

Way late there buddy.

All the iPhone updates have been free. The only updates that cost money are for iPod Touches.

As stated in the keynote, the iPhone update is free.

Every iPhone OS upgrade has been, and will be free.

Guys, not everyone follows Apple news as diligently as a lot of us here.

OP, there are a lot of new features and enhancements, if you check out this thread http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=715316 it will give you a rundown.

Lets not be naive here.
The OP is posting in a forum inside a website called MacRumors.
It would be like someone driving in the middle of Las Vegas, getting out and saying, hey? what's up with all these lights!

He's a troll and he got all of us.

Wait, wait wait

an iPhone?? you mean apple has a cell phone out there jeez where was I :p

In all fairness to the OP, the news of the 3.0 Update being free has not been as widely circulated to most mainstream sites, other then mac centric sites of course.

Some poor souls have lives outside of the computers and don't follow apple news as closely as us geeks :)

Every iPhone OS upgrade has been (...) free.
Absolutely true.

Every iPhone OS upgrade (...) will be free.
We know for certain that 3.0 would be free for all iPhone users. We've known that ever since Apple announced as much at the special media event back in March. That news didn't come as a surprise to anybody. (Ok, maybe some people were surprised that the 1st generation iPhone would be supported at all...)

I don't remember any Apple press release stating that all OS upgrades will always be free.

Hey man! I failed it first! If you're going to fail someone... at least make sure someone DIRECTLY ABOVE YOU didn't already do it.

So you = FAIL!
