Are you a developer? Obviously not..
So how about waiting till Snow Leopard is actually released and using Leopard which will run all the applications you need fine..

Might be worth waiting until it's actually out of beta.

programs that i found that won't work are:
istat menus

so we can expect it to be mostly addons and startup items that will have issues

It's a developer build and one of my most-used developer tools doesn't work, Cornerstone :( For that reason alone I can't use it as a primary development OS.

Development build does not mean one that you use to develop software on. That is production or stable build. Development usually means for testing purposes meaning that you use it to test that your software works. I have no idea why Cornerstone doesn't work but it probably have to do with the developers using older libraries in order to have greater version support and the fact that quite a few things in the core of the OS have changed.
Oh and for the ones of you wondering if you should give snow leopard a show. Save yourself some grief and just wait for the final release. There are a lot of application compatibility issues. Most will be resolved in the months to come but for now just stick with what works.

All application enhancer programs do not work.
I'd problems with Transmission, it does not update with the tracker.

I'm well aware of what it means, I've been a professional software developer for nearly 10 years. I was just stating my frustration. I know it's a problem with Cornerstone, not SL. I would have liked to use it as a primary OS on my dev machine to take advantage of all the good stuff. But I rely too much on Cornerstone. Sure I could use other SVN interfaces, but I've gotten so used to having it as part of my environment it'll probably make me less productive to have to change the way I do things, lol. I've emailed Zennastone, but I probably wouldn't expect a compatible update until 10.6 is officially released.

If anyone out there running the new Snow Leopard Developer build wants to help a freeware dev out …I'd love to know if my app OpenDNS Updater (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/25753/opendns-updater) still works in Snow Leopard.

So far what I've found that do not work:
Perian does not work with MKV files --though AVIs seem to be working fine
Cyberduck
Chax

Apps that require a kernel extension to work I have found will not function in 64-bit mode until they are compiled as 64-bit. This includes USB Overdrive, SteerMouse, etc. They work fine in 32-bit mode.

Don't hesitate. Apple doesn't know these things either, so they will be glad to here from you through your developer account for any incompatibilities that you find. Obviously, as you will find when you read your developer license, don't blame Apple if it reformats your hardware.

You know what's a bad idea? Coming here and telling us that you did that. Seriously, it's against the forums rules to talk about that, and you're just asking for a ban by coming here and making claims like that.

And Mal was being honest as well. Read the forum rules. You're not to talk about piracy, etc. He was politely warning you that you could get banned.

yes true, how ever torrents don't need to be pirated and the "you know what's a bad idea" doesn't sound all to polite, nevermind though

Torrents aren't always pirated stuff, but in the case of 10A380 it is, because Apple doesn't use torrents for seeding their developer builds of software.
And I didn't find anything rude about the "You know what's a bad idea?" comment. Guess it's all how you interpret it?

I don't think you understand what a developer build means.. it means developers should test their applications and make sure they work on the new OS.

LOL, trolling. I've never trolled in my life. Thanks, all, btw, for standing up for the comments.
MoBurkhardt, there was no doubt from your post that you had downloaded the beta version of SL without having permission from the company that makes it to do so, which is piracy and is illegal. I was warning you that it was a very bad idea to post about that subject here, regardless of the wisdom of downloading it in the first place if you don't know what you're doing. Nothing trollish about that at all.

Perian doesn't work at all. The reason your AVIs play is because Quicktime X natively supports more codecs than the old version (but no MKV yet).

Remote Desktop apparently does not work because it requires 3.3 and current is only 3.2.

These apps haven't worked too well for me:
Vuze (opens but won't download)
iStat Menus (will not load)
Frostwire (crashes on startup)
MultiClutch (gestures don't function)
Safari AdBlock (doesn't show up in preferences or block ads)
Pixelmator (opens pictures but editing is buggy)
Photoshop CS4 works, but the multitouch doesn't work. If I find any more, I'll let you guys know!

I have SL for 2 days running now, and thus far I am happy. It runs more stable, faster, and this is not even the final build. Things seem to run cooler as well, and I don't know but the whole screen seems more crisp. In all, very much looking forward to the final release ;-)
Anyway, until now I have tried the following apps with success on SL;
iStat Menu (no problems here you guys)
Adobe CS3
Office 2008
VLC
Rumpus
Firefox
Utorrent/Transmission
Xbench
Techtools Pro
Appzapper
Candybar
SMC Fan control

I just burnt the .DMG to my firewire iPod. In system preferences, choose the iPod as Startup disk > restart. OSX installer is loaded, install from there. I had no problem afterwards, just install SL over Leopard, no problem. When the gold master is released I will do a full format & install ;)

thanks disco; I had heard that you dont get the speed increases when you install over Leopard; only a full format supposedly does that..

Could be true, I haven't checked it yet. Anyway, it gave me back some 10GB in hard drive space (and that's a conservative guess). Moreover, it still feels snappier (but that might be me wishing it was snappier;-)

Could someone try the Cisco VPN client out on snow leopard? Would really like to know if it is working since that seems to be one of the things that always breaks with new OS X releases.

Apps that didn't work for me:
* Wakoopa Tracker - crash
* iPhone Configuration Utility - replaces a framework that crashes (also does that on Leopard with iTunes 8.2)
* MiniBatteryStatus - crashes at start, use iStat pro/mini for similar data
* kpsewhich from Fink TeX packages, crashed when invoked from TextMate, now use MacTex's own TeXShop
Couple of crashes in vmware too.
Grab bag of apps I think I use often, most of those ought to work: http://osx.iusethis.com/iconbonanza/henk_poley
