Yes, I'd say so. Even though this seasons episodes are hot or cold with very little between. All the good writers have gone to other shows.
I can't wait until September. Bring on the Sopranos!

I have to say...it seems like the Sopranos frenzy has died down a bit...
seems like it's been 2 years since we last saw a new episode?!
anyway...I didn't like the Simpsons that much...then again...I stopped watching tv a while ago... ;)
Others in the running:
Hogan's Heroes
Gilligan's Island

In the 90's.... The Simpsons
In the 2000's.... South Park!!!
I have not seen any Simpsons lately, though I must admit that the X-Files were pretty darn good. (At least before Mulder left. :D)

of course it is.... what other show has had the greatness over such a long period of time?
i think the problem is that some shows that could beat it are live action and thus the characters either get older or change in whatever way, and it's hard to believe. but when it's animated, you can do whatever you want! sure, some of the episodes aren't as great but in general they're still quite good...
though, they could always use a bit more of conan writing....

longevity is definitely the key here. Thirteen years is a long time, and there have been some off episodes, but there have also been some classics this year.
The voice talent has signed a threee year extention on their contracts, so more goodness to come. The rumor is, once the show does end, god forbid, they will go into production on a show called "springfield USA" which is about the other people in Springfield, a different character for every episode, I think. Pure Goodness.:D

wow, that sounds pretty cool. it could be a bust, but i think it could work out quite well...
3 more years, that's great..... it was quite sad when phil hartman died and so many characters died with him.....

Bubba, you must not appreciate beauty then. She is a hottie, pure and simple. She is also innocent in a very sexy way. :D

I'm with Techie :D on this one.
I think the Simpsons passes Home Improvement, in some cases the Drew Carey show, and even South Park. But I think the best comedy shows of all time are from Whose Line. It's complete BS comedy made to perfection and then some.

I've been watching LOADS of Sopranos on DVD in the last couple of days. Brilliantly-paced stuff.
Anyone been enjoying 24? It's one of the best things on the teevee since Murder One.

The Simpson is the best Cartoon EVER!! I have seen all but a few Simpsons episodes and I love them!
The Simpsons is America at its best;)

I'd say it's a toss up between Fraggle Rock and ALF.
It's real hard to choose between a catchy tune and a cat eating furry alien.

Best cartoon that is American made would have to be Bugs Bunny and all the movies, and toons he was in. Of course, that includes the full cast.
It would be difficult to select the best current/modern show, since there are so many to select from. Widen the scope a bit to anything from 1990 to present and you get into serious trouble. One of the funniest has to be Married with Children... Who doesn't feel for old Al Bundy???:D
Another golden series has to be B5, all of the movies and other series that came from it. I am seriously hoping that the Rangers movie gets made into a series. That has some serious potential.

Best Cartoon forever has got to be the original Transformers. My take.

I'll give you that, she's hot. Hell, she's super-hot. But a hot woman does not a great show make.
sopranos is also a great show, one of the better written pieces to date. :)
24 was good, but i felt ripped off in the end. This blatent extenuation into the next season is absurd and transparent, just like Ozzie and Co. doing a second season: not as magical, not as unique.

On this side of the atlantic we still have several hours' worth of 24 to go.
I have enjoyed it immensely - BTW did anyone see that thread at powerpage.org about how whether a character used a mac or not was closely related to their good/bad role at any given point in the plot. Quite amazing!

simpsons used to be cutting edge but they seem to be loosing their finesse. they were beautiful and witty in their time. i always liked sideshow bob.
Futurama has its moments, though.
I really dig Dexter's Laboratory and Samuri Bob!
And Farscape is the best sci fi show right now! All those freaky costumes and superbly real and enticing characters are a television relief from hum-drum one liners and pre-programmed character reactions.

Yep, the Simpsons rules! I was Bart when it came out, but am now slowly becoming Homer. I wish I had time to watch it more. I never get to watch T.V. anymore. Don't all the intellectual and fitness types agree that Americans aren't getting enough television??

Alf was great! I wouldn't mind watching it again. If I found the DVD, I'd buy it. The cartoon was semi-ok though. Ah...childhood memories....

I don't know if any of you have watched or know of the Sci-Fi channel show called, "Farscape". If you haven't all I can say is you're missing the greatest Sci-Fi/Space Fiction show ever.
To my and a great deal of other people's dismay the Sci-Fi channel is backing out of there contract and canceling this series. If you or anyone else feel as bad about this as I do please sign the petition to Save Farscape and send letters requesting it's continuation. You can find all you need to help save, Farscape at the following address.

I'm sorry about that I am really upset about this. You should see my desk I have a dozen letters and labeled envelopes ready to go out tomorrow to the parties responsible for cancelling this show.
The reason I posted so much was simply to get the word out. Last time I started a thread I received like 3 replies in few weeks. I didn't want this to be like this I wanted to be in peoples faces and I didn't want to be ignored.

if people care they'll pay attention. if not, then you're looking for support in the wrong place anyways... still doesn't mean you should post it up 50 times and submit it as a "news" story

The Simpson's is still fresh, after all these years. I guess that is an advantage to a cast that does not grow up. I remember one episode that was pretty bad, that at the end of it, they said something about how bad it was. I thought that was great. I am not sure if it will become the next Looney Tunes, though. Bugs Bunny and his pals might beat the Simpson's IMHO.

I'm telling you. My father is the living flesh-an-blood Homer Simpson. I kid you not. Only thing is, he doesn't say "Do'oh!", and doesn't swill beer. Other than that it's damn close. I see where I get my goofy sense of humor from.
