Hey guys,

I'm new to the forum. Starting to get more involved with my ibook lately since it fell off the counter 3 days ago, and now the LCD is busted. If you run your hand across the surface, there are no cracks, but when you look at it you see cracks, and black spots.

I'm wondering if anyone would be interested in this laptop, as is. Everything else works 100% perfect (I'm on it right now). I actually just got the ibook back a couple weeks ago from getting the Logic Board replaced. I'm interested in any G4 ibook or Powerbook, with at least a combo drive if you wanna trade me (or I'm also looking to buy).

I know this is a long shot, but its worth a try at least. Any questions or offers; email me at rogliao@umich.edu. Pics below.

Cheers

Roger

If you part this out, I call the combo drive!
PM me if you're interested in selling the combodrive.

Thanks for the replly. I'm hoping to sell the whole thing, as I'm not brave enough to part the sucker out myself. So if you're interested in the whole unit (you can take out the combo drive, ram, hard drive and such) let me know. rogliao@umich.edu

FYI, you could buy a used screen to replace your busted screen with.

they can be seen on eBay for anywhere from $125-$200..
like this one:

either way - good luck!

I would just say take the thing apart and sell the parts. Then get 12 inch Powerbook.

I would love to do that, but I'm not computer-savvy enough to take the thing apart. I definitely want to pick up a 12" powerbook though, or I'd consider a 12" ibook as well. Oh to hell with it, I'll take anything that's G4 at this point.

Anyways, thanks a lot for the offers guys, I'm going to give it a day because I have yet to hear back from the person that initially was interested. Keep the offers coming though...for the right price I'll have it in its original box and shipping tomorrow. BTW, it comes with the ac adapter, and still has over a year of warranty left (applecare). Panther is installed as well.

Well, I wish this were the case...but the idea that you could get a 14" ibook screen for that kind of price(on ebay) is not very close to being within reason. Not from what I've seen anyways. The only parts that you can find for apple laptops on ebay, for the most part, are 12" ibook parts and older equipment. You can find broken units like this from time to time on ebay but it's pretty hard to get somebody interested due to the availability of the parts. Places that sell these parts are asking just slightly over insane prices. I can't recall the prices off hand but you're probably better sending it off to apple instead. If the parts were available, I would be all over it. I love ripping ibooks apart! On another note, I don't think it's such a smart idea to rip this apart. If nothing better turns up here, turn it on ebay and have a huge disclaimer. That's my two cents...

Thanks for the advice guys. Can anyone give me an idea of what this would be worth? Again, everything works perfectly, except for the screen.

Thanks for your help.

Having used to work for Apple, I would say $150 - $200.

Not much more.
