Yes, I have been working on a program, that is in beta stage, to create apps for the iPhone or iPod Touch.
It does work on my local computers but I need more people to see if it works on their computer(s).
If you have Windows, please add me on MSN - <snip>
And I will give you the program, and tell you how to work it.
Sorry for being brief, but I do not won't to release a lot of information on my program.
Thank you.

Sorry, but IMHO anyone even remotely serious about iPhone app development is going to buy a cheap Mac (if they don't already own one) and use Xcode. It's a bit of a stretch to imagine that you could come up with something anywhere near as good as Apple's own (free) tools, to be honest.

You're in a good mood today...

 It's just my opinion. What would you prefer, everyone to say "wow, great, Apple may as well stop developing Xcode, go for it", then the guy spends months on this and gets annoyed because no-one uses it (because they all prefer Xcode) and no-one warned him that might happen?

Is there such a thing as a cheap mac? They all seem pretty expensive to me!
Imo this is a good idea, and something apple should have been working on themselves. Why is it a bad idea to allow iPhone apps to be developed on the most popular OS?

A lot of people aren't as easily swayed as you may think.

You might be able to code/compile outside of OS X, but I don't think you'll ever be able to distribute for the App Store on Windows. You'll still need a Mac for that. Or did you manage to find a way around all of that too?

It's not a bad idea per se. I just think that if you walked up to 1000 iPhone devs and said " would you rather use this or Xcode?", 999 of them would probably go for Xcode.

Well thats pretty obvious since it's currently vaporware.

I think you're looking at this the wrong way.

Agreed, but there's no Xcode for Windows. Not every developer has enough disposable income to buy computers on a whim, some would rather use the system they already have.

Are you saying that developers that use xcode don't also have a windows based computer besides a MAC?

No. I am saying that some (small time) developers cannot afford to buy computers on a whim. Perhaps I am a Windows and iPhone user and just want to develop one app. I wouldn't buy a mac for that.

It cracks me up to think of an imitation of Xcode running on Windows! Even if Apple were to somehow port Xcode to the Windows platform, it would be as crappy as Safari on Windows. Apple's just not serious about that part of the market.

Understood. Are there any places to get cheap MACs besides used at a PC show?

I'm not sure to be honest, I haven't looked into it in any great detail. I just know that macs tend to be so much more expensive than PCs to buy new.

There's always hackintosh if you want to go the non-kosher route, if you know what I mean.
