Ok so I had a lot of problems with my 3g and so I got ahold of Apple Executive Relations and they sent me a brand spanking new iphone... When I received it today... they apparently messed up my order and sent me another persons phone and so I couldnt activate it since it was their number... I called back and they shipped me ANOTHER one today... WITHOUT taking my credit card number or anything... do you think I could get away with keeping both phones? (All morals aside)

Well, they took it the first time right? So if so, NO!

I don't know... seems alittle risky.

Do they not have your credit card information from the first shipment?

Could wait and find out. If you get a charge you know they know.

Or i'm sure the other person is going to notice their iphone not showing up.

I'm pretty sure the other guy will notice the missing phone and their serial number will be with that iPhone so activating it or using it in any way may flag the system.

Good luck, but NO. You're supposed to ship the iPhone back, unless you just want 2 phones.

If you sync it, it'll see the serial number too. Are you using AT&T? That's worse since the system scans IMEIs also. But, I doubt they'd find you. Just say it's a wrong address. Then again, I think it's against the law to open a package not addressed to you.

I wish we can add people to our ignore list and leave little notes to ourselves so we recall why they went on ignore in the first place. I ignore those who do these things so I never get held up in a MP transaction with them.
Best way I can protect myself from these types.

Just to verify, they shipped you out the wrong phone, you called them, and now they're shipping out another one, and you want to know if you should keep both phones?

I know it's a cliche...but I truly believe that what goes around comes around. Just do the right thing and enjoy your one phone. You'll feel better at the end of the day:p

wow, you have zero integrity whatsoever.

your chances of getting away with it? pretty good

your chances of being an inconsiderate, greedy, morally backward a**hole? 100%

they've got your info SOMEWHERE on file, if they WANTED to find you they could.

my thoughts are that you should return the dud phone

dude, if they want to find you they will. It just depends on whether or not they care enough to do something about it

the case is documented

they at least have your name and address

so they can find your account info

your account info can be used to find your cc info

theres always a way to find you if they deem it necessary. Save yourself the trouble and give the phone back, so that when you sell the phone for $300, and then you get a nice bill for the $600 unsubsidized price of the phone you stole, you won't have to deal with eating $300 for your dishonesty.

apple is hooking you up with a brand new phone...do the right freaking thing

LMFAO is that thing real? Feona?!?!? hah

anyways OP, do u have an Apple ID/iTunes account? Which requires a credit card, surely a quick search of your name and verifying the address will quickly show them your account in their system.

man and i feel bad sometimes when i do a warranty swap for cracks in the phone when i think maybe i really could just live with it!

Later in life, the OP will fail to sign checks to his utilities "oops.. I must have sent it without signing it"

or write a check on a closed account "Oh.. I forgot that account was closed"

Seriously?! Your post HAS to be a joke. a) you think they can't track a phone they sent to you. Did you sign for it? How did they GET your address? Believe me - some random lady didn't just scribble your name and address onto a post it and then give it to some intern to send out a box. There's paperwork. And if you fail to return it - they can and will make you pay for it.

We all know you won't do the right thing. You're already spending the money you haven't made selling it in your mind and you asked for no morality answers.

Here's an anecdote from my life

Last year I ordered 6-7 dvds from a place. I got a confirmation email and the website said the order shipped. It also said it would take 3-5 business days.

Well 2 weeks go by and I didn't get it. I think there was a holiday somewhere in there so I figured it was just delayed. But after two weeks, I called up the e-tailer because they are usually great about shipping. They apologized and resent the shipment.

Well 2 days later I got my dvds. The next day I got my dvds.

I DID NOT HESITATE - I called immediately and explained the situation and asked how I go about sending one of the shipments back because there was obviously an error.

Here's where doing the right thing pays off. He asked me to hold - and then got back on the line and said "Please keep them - we won't be asking you to send them back... enjoy"

A similar story was last year I was on a cruise that was comp'd because I was doing a feature on the entertainment on board. In addition to the comp they also arranged for one excursion at each port that I could select. These would be billed to my card but then the press office would do a chargeback.

Well to make a long story short - the request went in - but my CC never showed the credit. I called and politely told them of the error but also added that the cruise was amazing and I was treated really well - so I wanted to let them know it wasn't a big deal and I was happy to pay for the excursions.

The rep said he insisted and was very sorry there was no credit. He put it through. Next billing statement I had 2 credits. So I called and asked him where I should send a check or if they could just bill me (removing one of the charges)

Again honesty paid off because he insisted (strongly) that it was more difficult to try and charge it back and impossible for me to cut a check since their accounting doesn't work like that.

Point is not to brag here - but to illustrate that I didn't do these things expecting a reward or bonus or anything - but was pleasantly surprised at my good fortune in both circumstances.

You do these things because it's the RIGHT THING TO DO. Period.

Uhh... I know morals aside but... I seriously would just return it before trouble happens. =/. Other than that. I don't think you would be able to get away with it. They have your shipping address and your credit card number which I think is a factor.
