View Full Version : Macbook Pro; Playing DRM Protected Content; Help!

I’ve recently purchased a Macbook Pro (13”), also my first Apple Computer. I’m relatively new to the OS X/UNIX environment so forgive the ignorance with the following problem: …
Being an advocate of PirateBay, I was able to acquire a copy of a movie—which is considered “DRM Protected”. When I attempt to play this file, I’m met with a message which claims “Quicktime/Flip4Mac will not support DRM Protected Content”. What can I do to resolve this issue?
Is there a download available which will enable me to remove DRM protection, or a player that will bypass this bump?
Any and all help is appreciated, thanks!

1. Go to your local DVD store.
2. Locate the movie you want to watch.
3. Purchase the movie with cash or credit card.
4. Enjoy.

My guess (in the absence of any other info) is that it is a DRM'd Windows Media Player 10 file, which cannot be played on a Mac.

I'd prefer if you limit your [vain/vapid] attempts at humor to other channels.
Really.
Predictable and time wasting, much appreciated ;-)

Is there a means of converting it to a playable AVI?

Maybe in Windows.

I mean, it's only a matter of time before this thread gets locked anyways. Take a look at threads that get moved to the wasteland:

will i lose my downloaded songs if i delete limewire? (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=729642)
Detect any theme from those posts?

An attempt at humor...maybe
A suggestion that you not steal content and simply pay for what you want to watch............ definately. (Oh yeah, and not to brag about it on a publicly available website)
There are plenty of websites out there that cater to the Pirate Bay mentaility. You will find out that this site is not one of those sites......
Best of luck with your future, I am sure your morals will land you a top flight job in politics.

My thanks to those who uphold a higher moral authority.
The self righteous attitude exhibited on a website which--in all honesty--caters to a consumerist obsession (as well as helpful tips of course) is a bit much.
The question can simply be answered, or dragged along in an endless display of moral sanctity.
Cheers :-)

Or it could not be asked in the first place. You've got your answer as to how you can watch your movie DRM-free. Thanks for stopping by.
Also I might add that post #2's suggestion is cross-platform. What more can you ask for?

The question was answered, mazel tov.
What more can I ask for? The end to bloated statements and predictable responses :-)
Yay!
Be well ;-)

I hope your new Mac does not get stolen. You know, because stealing is wrong. Right?
