I need help with this very fast, within the day.
I have a Macbook aluminium from 2008, and we bought the new version from 2009 to my dad, as a birthdaypresent. He got iLife 09! And I want that !

I inserted the disc "Applications Install" - which I assume is the iLife package, and it told me it could NOT be installed on my machine. Is this some retarded ownership limitation? If so, how do I remove it? How can I update my iLife08 with his CD?

The grey disks that ship with Macs are specific to that particular spec of mac and cannot be used on macs with other specs.

Is there some way to crack it?

Nope. But if you have actual iLife discs you can just install them onto other computers no problem.

Yes, it's some "retarded ownership limitation." Just torrent it if you don't mind breaking the license anyway.

.....and enjoy the spyware, virruses and other crap you will pick up doing so.

Why does the "let's just steal the software" mindset seem so prevelent these days?

Hey Ramius, just go out very fast, within the day and BUY THE SOFTWARE YOUR WANT.

Show invisable files.

View .pkg file.

Copy the items to the correct folder listed in there.

LoL, thats so 90´s with your spyware comment.
Why not steal the software? Well cause i´ve actually payed for this with my own money, to my father, but still. I have also payed for my own iLife. I dont believe in this practice of deciding how the user should be able to use the software. Once you have it, I think you should be able to do what you darn well want to do.

If anything, this restriction encourages piracy. I´ve payednow several thousand dollars for Apple products, and I cant use a perfectly fine iLife09 disc because it belongs to someone else in the family?

I got some help on another forum, that told me to download a program called Pacifist to extract the files. I dont know how this will end up working.

You paid for iLife 08 for yourself, and iLife 09 for your Dad. NOT iLife 09 for yourself. If you want it without paying for it, you might as well just torrent it.

And how could "spyware from torrents" be "90s" when bittorrent didn't even exist in the 90s? Not to mention, quite a few people who torrented iWork 09 wound up with their Macs zombified into the iBotnet because of a poisoned installer package in some of the torrents.
