Due to a past due balance, equipment discounts are not available. Payment of the past due balance will make a discounted upgrade available. Use Online Account Manager to check and pay your balance now.
We have yet to submit the bill because it just came in. So does this mean once we get the bill sent out I will be able to qualify for the 16GB iPhone for $200?
What is this discounted upgrade? Is it the advertised $200 for 16GB and $300 for 32GB?

Pay your past due, and you can upgrade. Check your account to make sure it's current asides from your upcoming not-due-yet payment.

It says 7/20/09. So once I pay this, i can get the iPhone for $200?

Yes. Five days after your due date, your account is technically "past due", I know with Verizon that after 12 days past due, the calls/texts start flowing about making a payment. ;)

IT still might not be a complete discount. Who knows what AT&T and Apple have planned up

How the hell would we know? When are you eligible for an upgrade? We do not know these things.
If you are eligible for an upgrade, (not an early upgrade) then yes, it'll be the advertised price. I don't know why you're asking us when it's something you could easily figure out in a few minutes if you looked and used a little bit of your common sense.

What he said is not that hard to understand. AT&T moves your eligibility date around based on your monthly bill reaching certain levels and your history as a customer. If the OP is habitually late (not hard to believe since he's surprised that 5 days past the due date is late) then AT&T could easily decide to move an early eligibility date farther down the road. He could be offered the full discount once the bill is paid or they may just offer the reduced price for people not yet eligible for upgrade.

I'm not quite sure where you're going with this. It looks like if someone tells you that you'll get the fully subsidized discount on the phone then you'll pay your now-late bill. Otherwise you won't. If you pay your past due bill you'll know if you get the full discount. You have to pay it anyhow. Why are you waiting?

pretty sure you have an outstanding balance (and not just the current payment that is required a few weeks after the billing period ends). You might have forgotten a payment a few months back...

Because if I can't get the iPhone for the$200 price, I wont sell the items I am about to sell. Bill will be paid regardless

If you pay your bill you can buy the 16GB iphone for 200$.That might not be true.
There are 3 price points for the iPhone 3GS and the Thread Starter might not qualify for the lowest price of $199 even after paying the outstanding balance.
$199 - Full Subsidy discount
$399 - Early Upgrade ( reduced discount )
$599 - No commitment pricing ( no discount )

If:
- Your bill is late
- And you're selling items to afford an iPhone, but can only do this if you are getting the discounted $200 price
Then maybe addressing your cash flow problems should be the priority instead of getting an iPhone, at least right now .
Just sayin'...

Agreed. WE, on MacRumors, have NO idea what you will be qualified for in terms of your upgrade status. Follow the directions:
1) Pay your bill....pay it now.
2) Tomorrow, got on YOUR account online and look on the right side for "Check Upgrade Eligibility"
3) Don't bother US with what is a private matter between you and AT&T

That's kind of funny since he said this to the guy who lost his iPhone at Six Flags:
You still wont win, dummy. You spent $500 on something you didnt need to. What are you proving?

Jul 25, 2009, 09:24 PM
your phone bill is past due so that means you will have a late payment charge and this will be reported to on your credit file. yes you need to pay that before you can do anything else with your account..
that also could affect your future eligibility due to failing to pay on time. At&t policy.

And your bill needs paid regardless. The bill doesn't have anything to do with your iPod and accessories. If you pay your bill all your questions will be answered and then you can make your decision about selling the other things. Yes, it's just that easy. No rocket science here. Paid bill = answers to your questions.

End of story. pay online and the second after you paid you will be able to get your iphone, thats if you were late on a payment only once.

And the bill not being paid is an error on AT&T's end. Not mine.

No, YOU are dragging the conversation on (which, by reviewing your posts, you do a lot). Are you the type of person who needs to have the last word? I thought so. This pointless thread will fade into obscurity. Just don't keep replying.

Let's see here, you are delinquent on paying your bill, ATT&Ts fault.
You want to upgrade but you can't pay the bill because you don't have the money,ATT&Ts fault
You are selling items to pay the bill so you can upgrade? if it is AT&Ts fault why are you paying the bill, just dispute it.
May I suggest you pay your bill, go the the ATT store and see how much they charge you for the upgrade, then come back here and share your experieince.
