I was just thinking about ideas for a community server on Carracho, well the idea that macrumors.com have a carracho server.

Carracho is an Hotline like program except with a better interface. All Mac also :)

Ok heres my plan:
Get a fast host
Setup a server, get some mods from these boards.
Have a drop box where people can post screenshots, help docs, seed notes, and stuff you can't get on these boards.
Live chat which would take a load off the fourms during MWNY.
I don't think we should have newsgruops because it might clash with the fourms.

What do you think of this idea???

What? So that we can all find out about each others' less-than-legal activities? I prefer anonimity ;)

Nope, Carracho is legal aslong as it isn't warez server which infact it won't be. There are lots of non-warez servers on Carracho. People could share thing they have made and screenshots of beta apps :) No warez!!

But they do that on the forums anyway.....

True, but they get pulled a lot of times. Apple doesn't care/know about carracho so there not going to do anything. Like if they knew they would take down the servers with all the jagaur seeds first. :D

It's funny on most carracho servers I go onto I see a download of some jaguar seed. It surprises me that Apple does not make so attempt at telling these servers to remove the files. Well I guess there are way to many and it would be a hopeless fight.

hosting a carracho server that doesnt have mp3's or software is pointless.

and hosting a server affiliated with a public website is just asking for trouble. Like stealing from the bank and leaving your drivers licence.

Spymac does this (one of their moderators has a server) but he blocks people after uploading... preventing downloads... a real classy guy :)

Good luck.. but its a dangerous path.

It sounded like an intriguing idea at first, but after reading some replies it seems like just another thing to waste more time on...I really don't see that much of an advantage over the current forums (other than the live chat).
