haha, this thread isn't related to pirated software.
i just bought mac office 08, my question is, can i also give my girlfriend the serial number so she can have a full version of office too?
i know when me and a friend had office and registered it with the same serial number, when we were both on the same network one of us would get the "please close" message, and than Word would close down by itself.
Even though me and the gf arent on the same network will it still close hers down when im on it?

Legally no you can't. She'll need to buy her own. Or you can be a sweet heart and buy her a copy.

That still is a form of pirating. You violate the EULA if you register more the one computer on the same license.

yikes, guess we should just buy a family pack.
another quick question, a friend of mine is going to sell me his copy of office 08. How would we find the serial number (or product key, whatever its called)?
BEFORE YOU SAY PIRATING
he got a serial number from his GW roommate who bought office 08 family pack. He never wrote down the number, but has the full version of office 08. My question is, (no worries, we're going to delete his copy) is how do i find out what the serial (or product key, whichever it is) number is? the only number we were able to get was the product id.

Legally, once again, no... when you buy a family pack of Office, you don't have the right to resell the individual licenses apart from the pack. That's why they didn't give the original purchaser separate COA's so that he/she could give your friend one to later sell to you. You could buy the whole pack from the person who bought it, probably....

I would recommend just stop trying to cut corners.

1) You sound like you're in school. If you are, see if they have an extended site license type of agreement -- at many schools you can get Office to use at home while you're affiliated with the school for a very low price -- often $5-20....

2) If you don't have that, but you qualify for student/teacher, buy it... it's only what, $130?

3) Otherwise just suck it up and pay for it, or use OpenOffice....

well than, guess i'll just have to convince him to give it to me for free :p
now legal?
