I do this for some people in my town and a thread someone else just posted got me thinking. If you dont like ebay or just dont have the time you can send me all the stuff you want to sell and Ill put it on ebay and give you whatever it sells for by depositing it into your paypal account. I would just take out the fees, shipping (charge the buyer extra anyway), and a small percentage. Let me know if anyone would be interested in this.

???
What I mean buy that is if I sell an iPod and charge $5 for shipping, that $5 would be used for shipping and wouldnt profit me or the person I am selling it for.

You would send it to my house and I would research and find an appropiate value and then tell you and see if that is what you wanted for it. If you already have a price in mind Ill list it for that. I can provide feedback from my ebay account.

If this is not against the rules this should be.
Frankly buddy if you're going to do this then you should sell the items and the actual seller would ship to you when the item sells on eBay.
I have purchased something on eBay just like this. The auction clearly said shipping took longer so the owner could ship the item to their "store" and then they ship to me. They were nothing more than a middle man. I understood the terms and moved forward.
If you want to sell other's people stuff then you need to a) insure that they won't be swindled by you. Your word is useless here. b) have people give you photos and such of the item, you list it, you sell it, they ship to you and you ship to the buyer. OR they ship directly to the buyer. c) build a rep with people here so you don't sound like someone who is trying to swindle goods out of people.
I am sorry but you tend to have a lot of items for sale and now it makes perfect sense. You do realize you must be the owner of something to sell it here right? With all due respect, this sounds shady.

Actually all the items I sell on here are mine since most of the items I receive from people in my town are non-electronic things like old comic books and collector ornaments. Really the idea of doing this came from a thread earlier today of a person asking for places that would sell his stuff on ebay for him. If this is against the rules mods please delete this thread.

Sounds like a lot more trouble than its worth for both parties.

That's just it, I doubt it is against the rules. I can't find anything that really suggests soliciting this business is against any rule. However, look at it from our standpoint. And I mean no disrepect to you or to anyone I may sound like I am speaking for, but if you want to do this, what insurance do you offer that we're not sending stuff to you that you take off with?

Well thats why I would provide my feedback from ebay and I have feedback on here. I have sold a bunch of things and even traded a computer.

OP: Are you registered as an ebay trading assistant? That may give you some credibility.

Yeah but feedback, I've seen it all go so bad.
I send you a $3k mac pro (well 3k when I bought it) and you jump ship. No skin off your back right? So what if you can't return to mac rumors.
See my point?
Anyway, I know I don't have to do it and I'm not really trying to hassle you believe it or not. It just sits funny.

The Marketplace is for individual-to-individual sales of personally owned items and is not to be used by or for any commercial business, to sell items purchased for resale purposes, or to promote fundraising efforts.
i think this covers the concept of this thread. what you are offering is a business related opportunity.
that said, while i don't think it will fly here, it's still a valid idea. i don't think it will work long distance, as the added cost on top of the fee for selling would make it not worth the trouble (shipping/ebay fee/sale fee).
OP, try it in your local area and i bet you find lots of people who want to make stuff go away but don't know how to use online sales. best of luck.

If I remember correctly there was a thread of someone selling stuff for a friend – it was locked as it was deemed that the user did not have ownership. So, I believe that the marketplace would require person x to sell it to the op, which is not what has been described.

Also, there is a rule against commercially selling, which is what you are doing.

Marketplace rules:
Ownership. The Marketplace is for personal sales/trades of items owned by the members involved.
This thread is basically promoting a business, which is not what the Marketplace forum is for.
