I'm finally getting serious about making a full website for myself. Does anyone know if iDisk supports CGI scripts or Java applets? If so, where could I get a good hit counter script that works with iDisk?

As far as I know iDisk web space only supports regular HTML pages at the moment.

Oh well. I guess I'll just focus on figuring out what else to put on it for now.

There are counters available that don't use javascript or cgi. But they may cost a small amount of money.
They work by putting a link into your webpage and linking to their system which figures out what to display.

The main reason I'm avoiding those is because they either require money or put an ad on your site.

I updated the site again. This time I put a navigation bar in and added a special feature I call "asurace's useless file of the week™"
Yes I know, I have too much time on my hands. :D

Sure thing. I'll post a link to it on tomorrows update. It's amazing but I'm actually ending up with daily updates.
BTW bear in mind that useless files is a literal name not a joke.

Just an update, I found a website that gave me a free counter off-site.

Well, looks like I'm going to be moving my website tonight. The iDisk was nice because I got 20megs of space and a mac.com address but my ISP gives me 10megs of space which is enough since my site is 400k. Oh well.

Yeah, I already moved all the clan {MR} Tactical-Ops stuff off my iDisk and onto Geocities. Gag. I'll probably look into the free 20MB of space my cable provider gives me.
R.I.P. iTools. :(

You know you can register a free domain name that will automatically forward people to your site.
That's how I registered the domain name for the {MR}TO clan; The real URL for our Tactical-Ops clan site is something totally different.
It's a German service so I'm not so sure how much of it you will be able to understand.
go to http://www.nic.de.vu

Thanks hitman, I think I'll go and register one. And it's in German so I'll be able to understand the bulk of it.

You speak some German? That's pretty cool; I lived there for a couple of years and picked up the language.

Heh, "some" being the operative word. The German I know is mostly from websites like that. I know enough of it to wade through a site like that one. I registered a domain at http://www.asurace.de.vu . I'm keeping my sig links the same since that way there isn't any pop-ups.

I think there may be an option to turn off pop-ups under the Admin prefs. I could post a screen-shot....

You can turn off "Werbung" or "commercials" i.e. adverts by using this option.

Yep, that did it. It's actually a good service if you know a bit of German.
