First of all, I apologize if this isn't allowed. If it isn't please remove it...but I won't get too descriptive.

Simply put, I have an .ipa file (app) on my mac that i'd like to get it to install on my ipod touch.

I've tried dragging the ipa file to my applications inside of iTunes and though iTunes recognizes it, it still can't put it on my iPod touch..

How can i do this?

As a side note, this app is also kinda outdated. Its like version 1.5 while i'm sure there is an 1.7 update available. How can I get it?

Well, from what I know, after you do that, you have to authorize your account, with the account that you bought the app on. Then the app should work fine.

I am a noob in the world of iphone and i am facing the same problem..i have made an ipa file by putting the app file in a payload folder and then compressing it to a ipa file. Now when i am trying to install it in the ipod touch using itunes it is getting installed but while trying to open it seems to be a dead app, it is not opening up.

PS - I have made the app file in simulator mode, not in device mode. Because in device mode it is showing code sign error. If you know how to make a device mode app file without facing this problem then please let me know.
